Best

We have been eating here ever since it opened. Food is true Greek and so is the service. Try the 3 dip...

Worst

The view is fine, the service attentive, the food is, or was when I was there, truly inedible. Bitter tarmosalata, dry lambshanks, awful, awful eggplant. There were four of us...

Ouzo, food, music and accents -- what more do you need? 10/25/2006

My pal had his birthday here a few years back -- there were about 8 people in our party and we were all stuffed -- and drunk -- by the end of the night. The head waiter had a team of 2 or 3 other guys helping him out, and he was keen to offer suggestions for the indecisive. The place reached capacity shortly after we had arrived -- it fills quickly due to its small size. Everything I ate was great. There were live musicians playing that night, too (with those little Greek ukelele-thingies). We wound up saying "OPA!" to just about anything after the first hour -- I'm sure the families with kids seated nearby appreciated our boisterous non-sobriety. I highly recommend you try this place at least once! Pros: Food, drinks, music -- you start to feel Greek after the first hour Cons: Pricey, crowded, noisy (weekend evening) more

Excellent Food 7/27/2006

The classic lamb gyro is a must....chase it down with a cold Greek beer. I love this place for lunch and people watching. Pros: Parking is a hike...but who cares? It's a strolling venue (The Grove) more

Very enjoyable break. 6/7/2006

My wife and I ordered the Grilled Salmon Steak and the Greek Village Pasta with Chopped Roma Tomatoes to share. The Salmon was cooked to perfection and the pasta was just the right accompaniment. Would recommend anytime! The staff and owner are wonderful. more

Like home... 12/13/2005

They have the best restaurant-made Greek food that I have ever tasted. The dishes are all variations on the owner's mother's recipes, and they are delicious. They truly taste like my father's recipes (and my dad was an amazing Greek chef). The ambience is also delightful - sitting outside under the vines always makes me feel as though I am back in the platia. If you want real Greek cooking, definitely try this place! Pros: Delicious food, Helpful Staff, Nearby shopping Cons: A little pricey more

Yummy Grove food! 5/2/2005

The vegetarian moussaka is the best thing on the menu. This place has a great vibe- very cozy and warm. more

Super convenient, good food 1/22/2005

If you're tired of the the Farrmer's Market, try Ulysses's for a change. I was delighted with the Vegetarian Moussakah (sp?),which is good for non vegetarians too, with it's souffle-like layer atop seasonal veggies. My friend had the stuffed chicken breast and was less impressed. We shared a Greek salad which was pretty standard. The people watching was fun, the proximity to the movies great, the staff lovely - I am looking forward to going again. Pros: Food, Convenience more

Above Average... 12/5/2004

...not only when it comes to keeping the essence of Greek food (its traditional flavors), but also in using only high-quality ingredients: I ordered Greek salad, Vegetarian Moussaka, and a glass of white wine - all of which I enjoyed tremendously. The service was good, all waiters I talked to were indeed from Greece and maintained thei innate Mediterrean warmth as well as typical, refreshing European forwardness. The owner mentioned that all dishes were indeed prepared after his mother's recipes. Pros: Quality, Authenticity, Price more

Great experience 10/8/2004

Truely the best greek restaurant in LA.. Those other reviewers have to be crazy. They food is as if your mother made it, with all the right flavors. If you really want to experience true greek cooking, this place is a must go to.. more

Great food. Average service 2/13/2004

It's so ironic. My experience was the complete opposite of the previous reviewer. It was almost impossible to get the server's attention, but my friends and I thought the quality, quantity and flavors of the food more than made up for it. Their taramasalata was fresh and full of delicious, bold flavor. The pita bread that accompanied it was fresh and had the perfect texture. I will admit, the hummus was average. But my entree, the chicken gyro, was scrumptious and the fries that accompanied it was light and crisp. I'd definitely go there again. Pros: Great, fresh food, Casual atmosphere more

The Food is no Good... 1/25/2004

The view is fine, the service attentive, the food is, or was when I was there, truly inedible. Bitter tarmosalata, dry lambshanks, awful, awful eggplant. There were four of us and no one could actually eat anything they were served... seriously, nothing, and we weren't expecting much; just some basic, straight forward Greek food.... Pros: pretty patio, nice staff Cons: terrible food, awful food, inedible food more
