USBA is truly amazing! Our family has been attending this school for many years. Our son is preparing to test for his Black Belt this Fall. Over the years, he has learned invaluable life lessons from Master Kravitz and the Instructors! THey have molded him into a strong, proud, humble, committed young man! He has learned the value of commitment, goal setting and perseverance! This is a top-knotch Academy! Their Muay Thai Kickboxing program is beyond compare as well! The US Blackbelt Academy in Laguna Niguel is very pleasant when signing up and while attending, but if you move or need to cancel for ANY reason, good luck! Be sure to read the fine print and be sure your child is committed and that you are not planning on moving. They make it difficult to cancel and tell you its their billing companie's policy or "refer to your contract". They are more concerned about charging your credit card and sticking you with auto-renewing 6 month contracts. We are moving and had to give them 30 days notice plus we still need to provide proof of our move to their billing company in order to stop future charges and terms. Major hassle to cancel and it should be a friendly program in our community, not a racket. When we signed up we told them we may be moving and that we were concerned about the contract. They told us not to worry and just give a 30 day notice. We recently received the following letter from their billing company: __________________________________________________ ___ Educational Funding Company 4740 Chevy Chase Drive, Suite 200 Chevy Chase, MD. 20815 Please be informed that the contract received in this offfice is with an understanding that it is non-cancelable and non-refundable, subject to the consumer rights. However, if you move your residence more than 25 miles away from the school facility, this membership can be transferred to any U.S. Martial Arts Center in the U.S.A. or any other school with which Educational Funding Company has an agreement, allowing transfer of students. Therefore, all payments that are due through the date of your move must be paid. Please send us a copy of the followings indicating your new address as proof of move. 1) Copy of current Utility Bill (Gas, Electricity, Water & Telephone bill) 2) Copy of School/College registration form or tranfer form (if applicable) 3) Copy of Drivers license issued recently after your move. Cancellation under this clause requires 30 days payment to close as per student enrollment agreement. Joined USBA a little over a year ago. I'm enrolled in their SUPER FIT program for adults...Holy Cow!!! I've lost over 15 pounds, and 7% Body fat. It's an Incredible workout! Staff is awesome because they encourage you at all times, and you can go at your own pace...Nuff said more

Been attending here since 2008...Best Gracie Jiu-Jitsu school in town!!! I've had the opportunity to train with various members of the legendary Graci Family...How cool is that!!! Great staff, great students...I wouldn;t go anywhere else!!! more

We have been at USBA for over a year now...our 2 children love the instructors, and the staff is very attentive to our needs. As working parents, we really appreciate the way the staff and instructors go out of their way to ensure our children are learning...not just martial arts, they are learning about respect, discipline, and how to do their best at all times...We are thrilled with USBA...My husband and I are involved in their Super Fit Program, we both are getting fit, and love the energy of the school and staff...Gotta check them out!!! more

Ok perhaps the person who wrote the negative review had an unlikely, negative experience....Both my kids have been enjoying USBA's instruction and curriculum for over 5 years and it has been on of the best things we have ever done for our children. There are many places that claim to improve self confidence, respect and a competitive spirit, but this place really practices what they preach. I have watched my kids transform over the years and I am totally convinced that it is due to the nurturing and training they have received from U.S. Blackbelt Academy. I recommend this school to everyone who is considering martial arts! more

**BE WARNED* The US Blackbelt Academy makes it very difficult and expensive to stop attending. Our 6 year old twins were signed up for 6 months of instruction and 50 days before the contract was to end, we notified them that we were not interested in renewing and stopped attending class. Their contract requires 30 day notice. We paid for the final 2 months of instruction per our contract even though they did not attend. Only to find out that even after our contract end date, they continued charging our credit card. Turns out they have an AUTO RENEWAL policy in their contract (in tiny writing) and even though we gave them notification and stopped going to class, they auto renewed us and now they want $199 per child for early cancelation of the renewal we made it clear we didn't want! When we asked for a refund, the owners sent us a copy of the contract and cancellation policy with no further explanation. In today's economy, we are shocked and disappointed that a small business would disrespect and treat their customers so poorly so they can continue billing for services that were not provided! Auto-renewals should be illegal! I do not recommend US Blackbelt Academy to anyone! more

I went here for awhile and at first I was really excited. I joined the adult program and everyone was very friendly. After I had been there for a little while I had personal matters to attend to and I started getting harrassed with phone calls and them questioning me the next time I went to class. They always wanted to know where I was, and why I wasn't attending "thier" class. They only allow you to wear their specific clothing, anything else and they tell you to change or turn it inside out. I really feel that if I pay a company $150 a month to "come whenever I please" I should not be harrassed OR told what I can and cannot wear. On top of that, all of their equipment and clothing is very overpriced. You need to give them 60 day cancellation notice when leaving, and if you don't they just continue to charge your credit card on file and WATCH OUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP AUTO RENEWS without warning - the person that sold me on the program NEVER mentioned it. It's in the contract you sign but he talks to you so fast and so much about everything and rushed you to sign the contract(Salesman I know). Everything I was told when I signed the contract, he denied when I tried to cancel. This place is a great workout, but I felt very disrespected A LOT - like I was a child. $150 a month? definitely not worth it. This is a great martial arts school, not only for adults like myself, but for children as well. My son is thriving in the school ? the owner, instructors and staff are all excellent and are generous with their time and attention, to my child and to all the other students in the school. One of the many advantages of USBA is its excellent website, usbapride (dotcom). But more importantly, the school offers a diverse curriculum, including Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, and Hung Ga Kung Fu. I strongly advise any prospective families considering a martial arts school to start their search at USBA.
