If you are looking for a bank that cares about fairness, uniqueness, or courteous service..I advise you to shop around and not open an account with US Bank (Golf Road, Eau Claire, WI). I rarely use my checkcard account (which I plan to close). This bank processed an electronic transaction (Ebay membership fee) and my account had insufficient funds. I was charged $22 for the amount short, $31 for an NSF, and $7 for each day my account was below zero. US Bank did not notify me for 5 days, and only then did they put a notice into the mail (making it 8 days). A $22 deficiency (unexpectedly too..not intentional) caused me to incur a cost of $127. I can understand being responsible for the overdraft and the NSF fee, but $7 a day (and w/o notification) is unreasonable. I asked why I was not notified until 8 days later, and the US Bank branch manager explained that ""it is my responsibility to watch my own account."" Clearly, US Bank lacks the sevice that its competetors offer as a standard. The Branch Manager was very terse, rude, and unyielding..and all w/o my provocations on my part. I remained very calm with this woman, despite her abrasiveness. Maybe she was having a bad day, and she took her frustrations out on me? This woman refused my discussing my situation with anyone else with US Bank. She refused to provide a phone number for her district manager, but she said that she would contact the district manager herself. Not suprisingly, this woman had my phone number incorrect (poor record keeping, as one digit was incorrect). I asked when I could expect a returned call, and the woman replied, ""when they are able to return a call."" I expect professionalism, courtesy, and (like the notice promised) accomodation; the Branch Manager was rude w/o cause. Maybe this woman does not like her job? I urge you to shop around for your banking needs. Find out what the competors offer, and evaluate their customer service. US Bank is the worst banking experience!
Pros: Several banking locations.
Cons: Unfair banking penalties/fees. Read their fineprint!
