Overall a good record store 6/10/2009

Twist and Shout is usually my second choice for music in town (first is Second Spin on Colorado Blvd.). Overall this store has a lot of hard to find stuff, especially if you are into oldies or rare LPs and imports by contemporary bands. They also have a great selection of music paraphernalia. However, their selection of stuff from the 80s and 90s, especially some of the more obscure alternative bands, is very limited. I've been in there several times looking for music from about a dozen artists within this time period and left with nothing; they didn't even have there more popular albums. So this place is good, especially when looking for stuff that isn't too hard to find at other record stores, but for the more music savvy person, this store isn't the best in town. Pros: Friendly staff, wide variety of products, oldie selection Cons: Selection of everything else except oldies and new music more

great selection, but not my fave... 3/6/2008

first things first - this store really does have a great selection. however, it does come at a price. new CD's are pretty expensive, but you will find some decent prices on used discs. personally, i'm a vinyl guy, and this is where i find t&s a bit lacking. the selection of new vinyl is fair, and priced on par with other stores in town. they also have an expansive selection of used vinyl, but unfortunately it is WAY overpriced. so if used vinyl is your bag, definitely check out wax trax or black & read first. also, most of the employees are incredibly snooty. last time i was there, i dropped about $70 and was treated like garbage by the hipster behind the counter. once again - go to the previously mentioned stores if you want to feel like your business is appreciated. also, the word from friends is that you do NOT want to sell your used LP's and CD's here, as they pay less than other used stores in town.\r \r pros - great selection, reasonably priced used CD's, free parking in garage\r cons - used vinyl is way too expensive, snooty employees, more

greatest place on earth 3/31/2006

MUSIC HEAVEN!! 10/19/2002

Twist and Shout is the best record store I have ever been to. They have a great selection of everything. Their memorobilia and selection of apparel is un-matched!! They carry a great selection of Jamband cd's, like String Cheese Incident... An awesome place for everthing music. Pros: Great Selection, Great clothes, Great Sticke select. Cons: So much to buy! more

Great Place 8/26/2002

I recently paid my first visit to Twist & Shout, and I have to say it was a very cool experience. There are so many different types of people in there to match the different music genres housed within the walls. I was there for what seemed like hours and emerged with some new stuff to try out. I'll be going back, for sure. Pros: selection Cons: a little crowded more

Twist it up! 8/23/2002

I love Twist & Shout! Excellent selection of dance vinyl. more

Mecca for Music Junkies 8/13/2002

If you're serious about music, this is your place. Forget about downloading it off the Net or buying it from some mega-conglomerate like Walmart which reduces art to a commodity. T&S is staffed with people who care about and know music and it shows in the way customers are treated as well as their extensive inventory. more

Knowledgable Vinyl Staff 7/30/2002

Every visit I have made to Twist & Shout Underground has been a pleasant one. Their staff is knowledgable and willing to dispense advice, as needed. :) more

they have it all 6/26/2002

You can find almost anything including used CD's. The store help is as eclectic as the store itself. On any given day you'll see a hippie, punk rocker, and a skinhead ready to find your selection. If they don't have they'll find it for you. Pros: non chain, knowledgable staff Cons: pricey more

Good Digs 5/28/2002

Sure the price might be a little high, but T & S has everything there. Coming from Chicago, I didn't think there was one good record store in town until I found Twist and Shout. I always know I'll be able to find what I'm looking for. The staff is pretty on top of music which is also great. Nothing I love more than spending half a day listening to music and shooting the poop about it. T & S is a good place to waste some time. Pros: Selection, parking, location Cons: Price more
