I really enjoyed going back into my childhood with the men who run the museum. It was great feeling the energy of all the children learning. It's a beautiful historical building. I even had a super soup at lunchtime outside the museum. It was like leaving the city stress behind to go back in time. more

A Favorite with Kids, Young and Old 7/15/2005

You don't even have to be interested in trains to be fascinated at this museum. The huge and intricate layout of model trains is amazing to behold. Familiar local scenes have been recreated in the layout, including the Mississippi River area from both St. Paul and Minneapolis. They have special shows like the Night Trains show, when the trains run as if at night time (awesome!) and a Christmas Train show. On certain days of the month, they run Thomas the Tank trains, for those Thomas fans out there. And there are plenty of volunteers around to fill you in on the trains and answer your questions. The kids will love it! more
