Best Italian Foor Ever 3/7/2010

Years ago my dad met Tweet Balzano on a fishing boat in Plymouth MA. He invited our family to come to his restaurant. That visit began a love affair that has lasted all of these years. Fram Mount Hope Ave. to the Inn (sorry forgot the name) and back to Mount Hope Ave.\r The food is outstanding as is the atmosphere!\r Tweet's will always be a favorite for us and our friends to come. Pros: Everything old is good again more

The best family style Italian and Seafood restaurant in RI 2/13/2010

I take the drive from Providence to Bristol at least 3 times a month to taste some of the most amazing italian food in RI. My wife and I are 28, and we have made it a goal to try every meal on this menu. So far, I have been extremely pleased. The Tweets White Special is over the top delicious, with an enormous amount of various seafood hiding the pasta beneath it. The baked stuffed Lobster is very affordable and absolutely amazing. If you like Steamers and clams, this is the place to go. All of the seafood here tastes like it was just brought in from the ocean that morning. The Filet tips are melt in your mouth delicous, and the bar is very reasonably priced. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a nice place to go on a date, take the family, or gather for a few drinks and watch the game on the 60 inch plasma at the bar. Pros: Every meal on the menu is Exquisite! Great atmosphere Cons: No music more

Locals love it. But why??? 11/29/2008

It certainly has a local feel. And I imagine that if you are from provincial Bristol and have been dining there since you were a kid then it has nostalgia. But the atmosphere is non-existent (plastic tables and chairs overlooking a dirt parking lot), the service is mediocre (Tweets' family members and friends who are not motivated to provide that extra care), and the food is good, but not great. The menu hasn't changed in years and the signature dish, a red or white seafood pasta, is good but it lacks flare - there's nothing ""special"" about it. If you're just looking for a plate of pasta, Tweet's is fine. But if you're looking to enjoy a night out, perhaps a family dinner or a date at an interesting restaurant, then keep driving. Pros: It's cheap Cons: It feels cheap. more

Don't waste your money 10/14/2008

I received a gift certificate for Tweet's recently and went last weekend. I've been there a few times over the years and the food is usually tasty and plentiful. However, this was one of the worst meals I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time. I ordered the seafood casserole. It was completely flavorless. The bread topping was dried out and didn't have any spices at all. Not even salt and pepper. I poured some melted butter over it and added salt and pepper but that still didn't help it. What a waste of money. There was a few small bites of fish and two large shrimp and the rest was all small scallops which were overcooked and tasteless. My husband fared better with the surf and turf. The steak was good except for the large layer of fat on it. The stuffed shrimp were horrendous. I think they used the same bread topping which didn't have any flavor to it. My husband will eat pretty much anything but refused to eat those shrimp. On the other hand, the fried smelts were delicious and so was the chowder. The spaghetti was good too. On the whole this was not a pleasant experience and certainly not worth $75.00. Will I go there again? Doubtful. Pros: large portions Cons: tasteless food more

Growing with Tweets 4/21/2006

If you've ever been to Tweets on a friday night, You'll agree that the energy and ambiance is unmatched by any other ,when your there, you're family! I grew up going to Tweet's with my family. My family would sit in the main dining area and enjoy a wonderful meal, and when the meal was done he would sing Sinatra loud and clear! My grandfather passed on but the tradition still remains.Tweets is a great place for a first date, for food and spirits , or a sunday dinner ...check this place out you won't regret it! Pros: Fresh seafood, Calamari, clean Cons: always packed more

I can't get enough of their calamari 1/18/2006

They have a Sicilian Calamari that is by far the best in the area. Other items are good also, I am not a big pasta eater, but the steaks and seafood are great. Pros: Nice Bar, Fast service, Good food Cons: Long wait more

A great deal for spaghetti and steamers! 5/29/2005

I had fond memories of the original Tweet's from my student years at Brown (in the 1960s!), so I returned there with friends while attending a reunion this weekend. The original structure had burnt down and was replaced by a rather boring family-style restaurant building, but they still sell tasty spaghetti (with red and white seafood sauces) by the the pound, and the steamers were even better than I remembered--cooked in peppery spices and served with water to rinse them off and melted butter (and lemon, in my case). Yum! Pros: Inexpensive, Informal, Friendly service Cons: Boring decor more

Great Family Resturant 2/7/2003

I went to eat with my family from Rhode Island at Tweet's. Being from Texas it was an extremely wonderful dining and visiting experience. Let me say that Texans do not know how to do Italian right. Wonderful food and service. more
