MY KIDS LOVE IT HERE 7/29/2011

My family has been at Turtlefuns for more than 6 years. Our oldest started out in the old building and we have had all of our children there from infancy. We love this place. Anybody who says Holly is crazy must be angry about something. She is very strict with her staff and maybe that has something to do with it. I would recommend this center to ANYONE, ANYTIME!!!!! The animals at the center are there to make the children happy. Most children like to look at them or talk to them. They are clean and the center is well-kept. NEVER have I seen the place dirty like some other reviews. I think the person who wrote the negative review is crazy and rude. I LOVE THIS PLACE! more

Dirty, Crazy Owner, No Cirriculum... 7/20/2011

I would not reccomend sending your child here; it is dirty with the animals all over the place making a mess, birds pooping in the kitchen where the food is cooked, the bunnies roaming around pooping all over the floors. The owner is absolutely crazy and doesnt even know the name of her staff. She is rude and I would never want to leave my child in her care, not even for a minute. I wouldnt send my child here if somebody payed ME! more

Child & Parents Love Turtlefuns! 6/22/2009

My daughter has gone there since she was 8 weeks old. At 19 months she still loves it! I say it must be a good thing when my daughter cries when it is time to leave. She has learned so much more than I could have wished for. more

Everything we wanted in a daycare service 2/9/2009

Our daughter is going on her second year at Turtlefuns and we couldn't be happier. We recently added a fourth day for her because she was so upset on days that she did not have school. The teachers are amazing as evidenced by how well our daughter has bonded with them. Everyday she comes home with a new song, or story or word she has learned how to spell. They do such a great job of infusing curriculum with fun and silly play. The place is crazy clean and there has not been a day since the first time we walked through the door where I have felt nervous about leaving our daughter for the day. more

A Great Place 9/26/2008

I have had my daughter at Turtlefun's for over 2 years and have been thrilled with her care. Drop-off is fine and the staff is friendly and loving toward my child. This is a wonderful place that offers piece of mind when you are work. more

Parents AND Kids LOVE Turtlefuns!!! 7/10/2008

My husband and I are both beyond thrilled with Turtlefuns! We left another daycare and started with Turtlefuns in June 2007, when our son was 14 mos old. He has flourished in their environment of caring, fun professionals. He is now 2, and he runs to his classroom in the morning, embracing his teachers, eager to begin another day of activities. Recently we had a baby daughter. She is 4 months old and has joined the Turtlefuns family in the infant room 3 days per week. She receives tender loving care from experienced, happy people. We could go on and on about the reasons we love Turtlefuns, but the main reasons for us include: (1) Non-corporate environment. The focus is on what is fun, educational, and safe for the children. Everything was created with the children in mind, down to the toddler-sized toilets in the bathrooms. (2) People. Happy teachers = happy parents. You never get the feeling that your kids are merely being babysat. They have curriculums, rules, and age-appropriate expectations. There is low teacher turnover, so kids actually get to build relationships with people. There is a family-like atmosphere, and we feel that since our children spend about as much awake time with their teachers as they do with us, then they ARE like family. (3) Cleanliness. This place is CLEAN. Besides the fact that the structure was gutted and rebuilt, so everything is new - the owner is committed to CLEAN. She has sterilizers, air purifiers, weekly professional cleanings (rugs, etc.) (4) Services not common to all daycare. Diapers and meals are provided and included in the tuition cost. Keep in mind when comparing costs to other centers. The meals menu is varied and healthy. Also, you have an opportunity to enroll your child in extracurricular activities such as swim lessons or piano lessons if you so choose. How great is that? (5) Flexibility. We have changed our son's schedule a few times since he started. It has never been a problem. We also have been in a few childcare jams (who hasn't?) with sick grandparents, etc. Any time we have asked for extra coverage or needed any help whatsoever, the answer was yes. We feel like we have a team who supports us in our efforts to be the best parents we can be, and the craziness of juggling life with us both working full-time goes largely unnoticed by the kids since they have consistent, reliable care that they enjoy. (6) Safe. The building is alarm-coded. Children cannot be seen from the street behind the locked stockade fencing. The outdoor playgrounds are full of fun, safe equipment. The pool has its own fence that stays locked and only the owner has the key for access. We hope this is a helpful review. To sum it up, we wish we did not need daycare, but we feel great about the one that we have! more

I am so happy my husband found Turtlefuns! 6/5/2008

My oldest daughter has been going to Turtlefuns for just about 2 years now. We have come a long way since I was first pregnant with her. I ran around like a mad women researching every daycare north of Boston. There was a daycare that my husband could literally walk to from his work and I wasn't happy with it. I started my maternity leave and I still had no daycare planned for my daughter. I called my husband in tears one day because I was worried that I would have to quick my job because I didn't like anyone I had interviewed. He recommended that I try Turtlefuns. I went there and, it turned out, that I have overlooked them initially because I was only going to send my daughter for 2 days and they required a minimum of 3 days. I went there to speak with the staff, looked at their website, searched for reviews and I was very happy with what I found. I spoke with my husband and we decided it would be ok if she did 3 days instead of 2. She loves it there now and doesn't even look back when we drop her off (just enough to give us a kiss). :-) Now, my son is going to be starting daycare this September (at 6 months) and I have no worries! more

Parent not up to speed with the rules for all daycares 9/28/2007

You obviously never had your children in any other day care. I worked for a fortune 500 company in MA. They have a day care on site and if you are late the cost is $10 for the first minute and $5 for each additional minute. Therefore we would always pick up on time. Do you know the reason why they do this? The wonderful teachers at Turtlefun actually have families that they need to take care of. Maybe you should think about your kids and leaving them to be the last children to be picked up. It's a little scary for small children to have to sit and wait by themselves with the teacher for you to show up. Kerri and Holly are like 2nd mothers to my son. They are always available to help with caring and nurturing my son when he needs it or just because. I have asked them both for advice about dealing with situations at home and they have given me direction to use at home and it has changed my son in a positive way. He loves going to Turtlefun and seeing them. We think of Turtlefun staff as part of our family. Also as far as food allergies, the school lets you know in advance that they serve peanut butter and other products that children may be allergic to. If you don't want your child eating certain foods you should have mentioned it to the staff. Every room has a chart with what foods each child can not have. more

Couldn't be happier with Turtlefun's 9/26/2007

I'm a mother of 3 children, all currently enrolled at Turtlefun's. We moved our older 2 children to the center when my daughter became eligible for pre-school 18 months ago. Our kids had previously been in a very small home daycare and although I knew my daughter was ready for a more structured classroom experience, I was concerned about moving them because I wasn't sure we could replicate the caring environment they had come to know with our previous providers. I am happy to say that we have found at Turtlefun's a fantastic place for our kids to learn and grow. They provide a balance of curriculum and fun in a safe, clean and caring environment. My kids span the entire spectrum, infant through pre-K and Turtlefun's is right there with them. From the hands-on intensive needs of the babies, through inquisitive & active toddlerhood and on to preparing for Kindergarten; their classrooms are all age-appropriate and geared to meet the specific needs of each group. The kids learn all the fundamentals and have a blast while they do it. The center has 2 distinct outdoor play areas, an inground pool with lifeguard-taught swim lessons in summer, they offer piano lessons, bring in musicians and animals to expose the children to different things and have events throughout the year that parents and families are encouraged to attend. The staff is nothing short of phenomenal. Since we've been there, they've been nothing but flexible and accommodating. They kept the center open once on a holiday (even though the calendar they provide clearly noted the center would be closed) because some parents did not have it off from work and didn't have childcare. The staff is committed to doing their absolute best day in and day out so we, as parents, can feel good about our decision to have the folks at Turtlefun's be part of our children's lives. I for one couldn't be happier with our choice; we love Turtlefun's and I would highly recommend them to a parent looking for a great learning and growing experience for their kids. more

Look no further for a wonderful center!!! 9/26/2007

If you are looking for a clean, safe, friendly and educational environment for your child, look no further!! Turtle Funs is the place you want to look into. They recently moved to a new location in Woburn where the owner, Holley, & Kari her very capable Director took great pride in renovating the new facility into a 1st class home away from home for children!! From the various outdoor play areas for different ages to the secure in-ground swimming pool where my children learned how to swim with the instructors from the YMCA this past summer, there was no detail that was missed. I could go on and on about the facility but the most important thing at Turtle Funs are the people who run the facility and work there. They are the most kind, generous, and warm-hearted group of professionals I have encountered. I had previously had my daughter at a "chain" daycare facility and it pales in comparison to the quality of care both of my children have received here. My daughter started Kindergarten this year and because of the tireless effort of her Pre-K teacher, she was very prepared for Kindergarten and her transition was easy. The same will be true for my son I'm sure! I could say more but why not call them and make an appointment to see for yourself. more

Don't leave your kids at Turtlefun School in Woburn 9/17/2007

My children went to Turtlefun School for less than 9 months and it was torture eveytime I dopped them off. From the unprofessional director Kari to the never tell the truth owner Holly. They are terrible at scheduling (promissing days then not having them available). They charge an outrageous late fee of $5.00 per minute per child! The charge for 10 minutes on your first late is $100! That just doesn't seem fair. Even the infant teacher feed my baby an egg product with no concern for allergies! Unbelievable! Like I said, don't leave your kids at Turtlefun School in Woburn. more

You won't mind leaving your children here! 1/19/2007

I have two children at this center currently, one in pre-k and one in the infant room and I couldn't be happier with their care. Back in Fall 2005, I was looking for a new center for my then 3 year old daughter when I was lucky enough to find Turtlefuns. I was extremely upset with her previous daycare (KIndercare in Stoneham) because of the ridiculously high turnover rate and was looking for somewhere with some ability to keep staff. I found it. My older daughter is very happy there and when I found myself unexpectedly expecting again, I was nervous about leaving an infant in a 'center' (my other two children were in a family daycare as infants). I am extremely pleased with the level of care, attention, and love given to my newest daughter. Staff seems to be treated like family (and in fact is family in some cases!) and they seem to truly enjoy their jobs. I would definitely recommend this center. more
