One of the best in South County 11/9/2011

Still one of the best places in South County and a great restaurant to bring out of town guests no matter the location you go. Just found out they offer prime rib on Tuesday's so I'm looking forward to my first chance to try it. I'll be entertaining some out of town guests who took me to a great steak house in Dallas thinking about showing them that St. Louis can compete with the best. more

Amazing Restaurant 11/9/2011

In the mood for steak? I was the other night, so we went to Tucker's in South County. The 10oz sirloin was cooked perfectly, and I think the baked potato was the size of a football. But the best stuff here is the peach cobbler. more

Best steak in the STL 12/5/2008

All of you who have had a bad experience at Tucker's place are more than likely looking for something negative. I have been dining there for years and have yet to experience a bad service. I have dined at more exspensive local restaurants with horrible results. The steaks are large and usually cooked perfectly and every steak IS cooked to order.(Steaks are way too exspensive to have lying around in hopes of someone ordering.) There are NO microwaves. Everything is cooked on a charbroiler. The veggies are sauteed in a lightly oiled skillet. The steaks and veggies are all fresh as is the chicken, never frozen. I have nothing but good things to say about Tucker's place. All three locations, South County, Soulard and West County.\r The pizza is fantastic! The appetizers are mostly typical frozen bar nibblers. The salads are well portioned and made fresh as needed. The beer is always ice cold and refreshing. The servers are friendly and personable and ready to provide absolutely the best service possible.\r In closing I would suggest the 16oz bacon wrapped filet mignon med-med rare with a skewer of garlic-lime glazed shrimp, baked potato with the works and a side of sauteed veggies. You will need a to-go box!\r Wash it all down with an ice cold Bud Select. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm Pros: excellent food and service Cons: cramped tables with large parties more

Great place for a date 8/8/2008

The steaks are good and perfectly complemented by the baked potatoes. It's a no-nonsense, few-frills steakhouse with a great house salad and cold beer. Pros: Good value; good service Cons: steaks aren't always cooked to order more

Don't bother! 6/9/2008

We were seated quickly and given our drinks timely so I thought we were off to a good start but that timely service quickly turned in to what felt like, how quickly can we serve these people and get them out of here rather than the relaxed family birthday dinner we were looking for. The salads were decent but had too much dressing for half of our party. Three of us ordered the special, one well done, one medium rare, one medium and two ordered the serlion both cooked medium. None of the steaks were cooked as they were ordered, only one of the 5 plates was served to the correct person, the vegetables were so over seasoned you could barely tell the asparagas from green beans. The food portions are fine but the plates are so unusually small you could really do with asking for another plate so you can cut your meat without flinging potatos around. The bus girl was oddly obessed with refilling the lemonades but no one else paid attention to those of us with milk, wine or beer. We were shorted a dinner salad, paid for it because it's included in the dinner price and never did get it.The waitress never once asked us if everything was ok or if she could get us anything else except when it came to dessert. So I asked the birthday person in our group if he would like birthday cake. He declined but sheesh, she could have at least wished my guest happy birthday. With all the great steak options St. Louis has to offer, there is no sense in bothering with this one. A regrettable choice. I won't be back. Pros: Is free refills on lemondae really a pro at a steak resturant? Cons: Everything else more

Good Food, Good Friends, Good Spirits 11/21/2006

When we go here I feel like we are in the show Cheers. Granted it is probably because we go here often but no matter what you will always have great food, service and a good time. You can't lose with the hamburger or the Filet. The salads are always fresh and the fries are perfect. Try the Bosco Sticks... bread & cheese. As far as drinks try a glass of Yellowtail, or try one of many Martinies or go for and Irish Car Bomb... plus lots of beer on tap. As far as the restaurant call ahead and reserve a private booth for extra privacy or a romantic dinner for 2 or ask to sit by one of the fireplaces. You just can't lose! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

pretty darn good 9/20/2005
