Don't Go To Them 6/24/2010

I totally agree with Joann about the owner is chauvinistic and arrogant on her review. Now here is my story. It was two months ago that I noticed the engine temperature was very high on the road back home. I stopped my car and found the car is out of coolant. I poured couple bottle of water in the radiator and drove back home. I had years never bother the coolant, so I can't tell it's there a leakage or just run out.(I know it usually never run out). The next day I took my car to Monroe Muffler Break & Service to let them check for me. Later they called me and tell me that they didn't find any leakage. They said since they didn't find anything wrong on my car so they didn't charge me at all.But they refilled my radiator and reserve tank with coolant. I fell very shame because I believed they should be paid for their nice service. Several days later, I found I lost my new coolant again. So I do believe somewhere there is leaking. This time I tried a different mechanic shop. I went to Tryon Auto Repair. They said they did a pressure test and found my radiator is leaking and it need to be replaced. So I paid them $240 and get the radiator replaced. After that, my college is off and I stay at home and only drove my car couple times. I found my coolant gone again! I called Tryon and told them I want it get check to see it's not the new radiator's fault. The owner said ""we will check it free if it's our problem.“ (They really means I will charge you for checking the problem if it's not the radiator). And yes, he did. He charged me $70 dollars and tell me the radiator is alright, but the head gasket need be replaced. He said he can repair that for $1500, that also include to replace a new water pump and timing belt. (dealer ask for $800 but not changing timing belt and water pump) Anyway, my Mom wasn't happy about he doing the further job other than just check the radiator and charge me $70. So she went to talk to him said that he shouldn't charge me because his former job didn't solve the coolant leakage problem. My mom believe that head gasket was the real problem and the radiator shouldn't be replaced at all. He didn't want to talk to my Mom much and asked her to get out of his shop. In the end , me and my mom just decide not go to them any more. more
