Worst

I went into TriKo Salon with high expectations based on the reviews written on this page. However, I was dealt a disappointment card. Of course, I didn't notice this at the time...

Great in every way 8/3/2006

After reading ALL the reviews and deciding that the overall rating was very good, I decided to try JTipton. When I walked in I could tell right away that they are professionals and I was in good hands. Then, I had the fortune of getting Jenna Tipton on my very first visit and I felt like this was my lucky day. However, as I watched the other stylists in the Salon, I am certain that no matter who did my hair, it would have been great because they all were competent, personable and talented. The bottom line though is how my hair looks. I love the color - AND the cut. This is my new ""hair home"". :) Pros: Parking great Cons: None really more

Excellent Service & The Best Hair Color! 7/10/2006

If you are looking for the best in hair color and hair style go to JTIPTON Salon, and ask for Holly. She has given me the best highlights and color! Even a celebrity hairstylist who does Paris Hilton's hair was raving to me about the excellent skill of my hair color and highlights. Have been going to JTIPTON for under a year and am very happy with the results! Go to Holly! She is the best! Very sweet, really listens to you and works fast. Very happy with this Salon! It's a must see! more

don't believe the inflated reviews 6/6/2006

If Janna Tipton spent more time in hiring qualified stylists and stop spending so much time asking her friends to provide artificial blissful reviews (and refuting the negative ones) on CitySearch, I wouldnt feel like I just wasted the time and money to visit the salon. My usual salon is Louis Licari in New York, but since moving to OC, I had to find a new salon. I was highly disappointed (and perhaps Janna will rebut that I dont know a thing about my hair or that even tho I get my hair cut at Licari, I dont know what a good stylist is). I will never go there again. I learned my lesson on believing reviews on CitySearch. Cons: unqualified stylists more

Absolutely 6/2/2006

After moving to Southern CA and leaving my stylist of 7 years, I was very nervous and worried about finding someone who could replicate the degree of color in which I had maintained from my former stylist. After experimenting with two different salons in Newport Beach, which were very prestigious, and being dissapointed, I discovered J Tipton Salon. I came to see Janna, and will never go back! She has has furthered my expectations, and is a master of color. My hair hasn't looked this good in years! more

Great hair! Great stylist! 5/23/2006

I was referred to Janna of J Tipton Salon from a woman I met at a local OC nightspot. What a cutie! After going to a lot of other salons in the area I am so happy that I have found her. My big thing is color and I like my cuts to be current yet still have the ability to wear to work. Come on girls we all want to look sexy out at night but professional during the day. Kerastase FINALLY found it! 5/22/2006

Thanks to the crew at Jtipton I love love my hair and I finally have the wonderful Kerastase products I've been searching for and my hair feels so great after that conditioning treatment I got. will never go there again 5/17/2006

after the impressive reviews, i decided to try this salon for haircut and partial highlights. let me preface by saying that i usually go to various upscale salons in new york and know what a good haircut is. i paid $60 for the haircut and $85 for partial highlights. i should have basically thrown $145 in the trash. i received the worst haircut in my life. my hair looked like i had a bob cut with long hair underneath (i wanted to cut two inches and keep my layers). i called the salon and the owner redid my hair to better results but not without having to cut another inch. the highlights are also subpar, but i didn't want to ruin my hair by going thru the chemical process again. so now i just have to wait until my hair grows back and in the meantime, get used to ponytails. Pros: nice atmosphere Cons: bad haircut + , subpar highlights, = waste of money more

J Tipton Salon Has Won Me Over! 4/26/2006

Inititally I read the wonderful reviews about this salon on Cityguide, so I figured, hey why not? I made an appointment with Becky Bell and she was absolutely wonderful! I went in with sort of an odd request and she was SO honest with me about what she could and couldn't do with my type of hair. The end result was fantastic! She is not only a sweetheart, but she did a wonderful job. An added bonus was meeting the owner of the Salon, she was SUPER accomodating and VERY kind. I didn't even KNOW she was the owner until she admitted it! I give them a 10 out of 10, 9.9 doesn't do them justice! Pros: Great Staff, Modern Hairstyles, Great Products more

Cheree is awesome! 4/25/2006

With such high ratings on city search, I decided to try out JTipton. I made an appointment with Cheree to get a cut and highlights. Everything came out wonderful! Cheree helped me pick out a color that really went well with my hair and was exactly what I was looking for (something noticeable but not drastic). She gave me a nice haircut as well! She was very friendly and I felt very comfortable there. Total came out to be $140 not including tip, I think it was well worth it. more

Thanks Laura for the extensions! 3/25/2006

Laura has been doing my hair for the past year, as well as my husband's hair and kids. I just recently had Laura put extensions in my hair. I love them. They look so natural. No one can tell where my own hair ends and where the extensions start. I never thought I would want extensions because I feel that they look fake. Laura convinced me to get them for my wedding and I agreed with the intention to take them out as soon as the day was over. I recieved so many complements that I decided to leave them in. I now get compliments on my hair everywhere I go. I can't imagine going back! Pros: Quick!, Professional!, Reliable! more

Shannon's haircuts are the best! 3/6/2006

I went to JTipton because of the reviews on this website and I was extremely impressed with this salon and it's stylists. Especially Shannon. She made me feel relaxed with the best shampoo massage I've ever had, and without a doubt the best haircut I've ever received. I absolutely love my hair and I'm so thrilled to have found Shannon! If you're lik me, you've been searching for a great stylist to give you a great hair cut forever. Well, search no more. Holly gave me the best haircut I've had yet. But more than that, she was patient and listened to what I wanted. And the best part is she actually delivered on what I asked for. I appreciated how attentive she was and I'll keep coming back. more

hair stylist becky bell makes my hair beautiful 2/13/2006

i frequently get stopped and asked about my hair. i attribute this !00 % to becky bell. From the quality of products that she uses to the years of experience she has. I have been having her do my hair for over 10 years. She keeps my look updated yet doesnt try to change what i am comfortable with. Her color is fantastic!!! Becky Bell is the best colorist ever 2/8/2006

I have lived all over the world, had my hair colored and cut by the so called BEST. I also paid anywhere from $350 to $400 for the service. I found Becky and JTiton through a friend, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. She is truely the best colorist and cut I have ever had. I have turned on several very picky friends to her as well. I will never go anywhere else. She is the BEST!! Very reasonable, no pressure sales, no hassle. I love this place, it is a must. CHEREE ROCKS!! 2/2/2006

I have had color and cut from $25 - $250 and from some of the top salons in NYC. But Cheree is the only one who has exacted the color and cut! Even my boyfriend comments on how much he likes my hair and what guy ever notices!! The girl has some talent! The staff has been very friendly and the salon is clean and bright. Leslie more

I've never before committed to a salon, but JTIPTON won me over. Great location, professional, fun atmosphere, and EXTREMELY talented stylists. I've recommended my stylists Laura and Shaun to all my friends and family, and have even given cards to strangers. Just had my hair cut and colored today, and I'm LOVING it! more

I just recently moved to Newport Beach, and the thing that scared me the most was leaving my hairdresser up north. I saw a lady at Nordstroms and loved her hair....asked where she got it done, and she told me Laura at Jtipton Salon did it. I called and made an appointment and got in that week. Laura made my hair look amazing. I feel like a new person. My husband told me hes never seen my hair look so good. Id refer Laura to anyone. I really needed a great haircut to match my new color, and I had no clue where to go! Thanks to this website I found JTipton salon very easily. Although, I was a walk-in, that was no problem at all. Shannon took fantastic care of me!! She did such a great job on my layered hair cut, and I will definitely be back in 8 weeks for a re-cut!! We all know how it is to move to a new city and begin the search for a great stylist... Now that you've read reviews about J. Tipton salon, you do not have to look any further! I was referred to Holly by a friend almost a year ago (upon moving back to the OC). She is the most consistent stylist I've ever had, not to mention extremely talented; the girl is an artist! The best hair color 11/29/2005

I have been to a lot of hairstylists. I have had every color put in my hair, but Janna at JTipton Salon has given me the best color I have ever had. She is truly talented at mixing color and it turns out totally natural looking. I just randomly found JTipton salon, but I won't go anywhere else now. I would highly recommend it! more
