Wonderful, hole in the wall sushi place 4/15/2006

We used to all go in together and get one of their huge sushi "boats" if there were at least 5 of us. Great value, wonderful atmosphere. It was nice to always be recognized when we were there, and treated like friends. They had a fried grouper and scallion roll with Japanese mayo that I would crawl back to Florida for. You cannot go here without trying several different things you never thought you would. But old favorites, like spring rolls, are never off the menu. I branched into eating sushi with eel at this place and was not disappointed. Parking is off street, so good luck during lunch. more

Delicious Thai food in downtown Sarasota 3/21/2006

Tropical Thai is located right in the heart of Sarasota, in five points. This little restaurant offers an attractive setting, attentive service, and great food. If you love the subtle balance of sweet, sour, bitter, and heat, you'll love Tropical Thai. My favorites are the coconut based curries: the pineapple chicken curry is probably the best I've had anywhere. They also have a full sushi menu, with a few Thai inspired specialties. Dinner is around $10-20, and well worth it. more
