I saw Andrea in February for color before my son's wedding in april. The atmosphere was great. It went down hill from there. My color washed out in a week. Rachael told me to come back but I decided I'd wait until my next appointment of April 1. Rachael called before app to say Andrea had court. I rescheduled for the 2nd. Rachael called to say ANDREA was still sick.\r I am so frustrated. No one really cared how important this is to me. more

Dana is pretty freaking cool, ok. Like the other one said, she really cares about what YOU want and not what she thinks it's best. I've been to others and they're just like ""Well, I don't really like to do that, so I'm not going too."" She's also super funny and does the best impression of the Teen Mom people, hahaha. She's fun to talk to and interesting. I usually never return to the same salon, but I'd actually come back to this one and request Dana if I could. But yeah, she's awesome ok. more

Dana is the best stylist a girl could ask for! I really love her haircuts; she is very commited to giving her clients what they seek. Bring lots of photos- she loves that and will be happy to discuss what you do or do not like. I once drove over 3 hours for her to cut my hair! The icing on the cake is that she is such a fun and sweet person! more

AWESOME Experience!! I had my hair colored on Friday night at Alter Ego Salon in Raleigh. When I arrived my hair originally was brown underneath with light blond highlights. I brought in a picture of color I wanted to achieve. The color in the picture was strawberry blonde with chunks of blond highlights. After 2 attempts and 4 ? hours at Alter Ego later it was a dark, dark brown. The color was horrible and not only was I completely dissatisfied and upset Dana Hunter the owner insisted I pay $92 for the service. My boyfriend has been going to Nikki Wilson for years. I have been with Nikki, the owner of Gel Salon, for over 15 years. She listens and takes my lifestyle into account when determining the best hair style for me . The compliments that I've received are many! Previous to Nikki, I had some 'not-so-great' encounters and I'm thankful that I have found someone that I can trust. And.. she doesn't just rely on her talent.. she is always educating and challenging herself to become even better. I also love her salon. It's a great atmosphere with wonderful amenities! I have consistantly gotten great color and cuts from Lily. The shampoo bowls are very comfortable. Good ambiance. Pros: Lily's color and style Cons: Its a drive for me, but worth it. more

I switched from haircolorexperts to this salon because all of my favorite stylist moved to this location. And it was a good decision. The stylists are amazing and listen to what you want. The owner Nikki is an extremly talented hair dresser as well!! I've gotten my hair highlighed by Paige and Julie, and would highly recommend both of them. Pros: wonderful!! The owner is amazing. I visited Gel Salon for the first time today and had color and cut done by Raessa. I followed her from her previous salon to Gel Salon. Every time I receive a cut or color from Raessa, she always provides the best service and she has never made me feel she is rushing to get to the next client. She takes her time and ensures that she is giving you the best service she can provide. My husband has also started going to Rae for his cuts and swears that his hair has never looked better. I would highly recommend this salon and Raessa. The atmosphere is very relaxing and everyone is so friendly. Raessa is definitely the most competent and talented stylist I've had in many years and I never doubt that I will leave with a fantastic cut and perfect color. more

I just had the best experience today at Gel Salon with Raessa! I am always so nervous to try a new salon but Raessa instantly put me at ease. She is AMAZING and is by far one of the easiest people to talk to. I had had a really long day and was looking forward to getting my haircut over with so I could go home and relax; however, once I met Raessa I felt like I had known her forever, she just has that great personality. She was so upbeat and and energetic and she knew exactly what I needed. My hair looks and feel great! I would very HIGHLY recommend going to Gel Salon to see Raessa! When Nikki first opened her salon last year I thought, ?Boy, this girl does have guts. New salon, tough economy and the only Stylist there?. But she has prevailed and doing so has opened her doors to other stunning Stylist that have the same confidence and brilliance as she does. \r \r Recently Nikki brought in Raessa from another high-end salon. Always loyal to my stylist, I of course followed. Raessa does the best foils of low lights and high lights combined and as usual works her magic for the type of hair that she happens to have in front of her. Great service, the price was better than the ?other? salon and best of all was the location! \r \r I?ve rebooked two months in advance with Raessa. \r \r I must say that Diane, who conveniently did not mention that the client was her very small daughter who screamed and yelled everywhere they went. From Panera where I first saw them then to the salon. I felt so bad for the stylist as Diane and her child whirled in like a tornado, unchecked and reeking havoc. Diane even boasted how the last place she took her daughter the stylist butchered it. Sounds like Diane really needed to take her daughter to a place where they only do screaming yelling children who won?t sit still and won?t charge her a dime. \r Pros: Location and price Cons: Side table to place ones tea one. more

Went to Gel Salon for the first time, and will never go back. Received a hair cut that was 2 to 3 inches shorter than the shoulder length hair cut that we discussed. Once it's cut you can't glue it back on. Once it was washed at home, I determined that it was completely uneven with big chunks missing. \r \r The owner said to let her know if there was anything she could do. I asked for a refund, and then the plesantries stopped and she became completely belligerent.\r \r If you want extremely poor quality service with an attitude this is the place to go. You can cut your own hair without a mirror and do a better job! Don't make this mistake, you will regret it for the next 6 to 8 months or at least until your hair grows out. Pros: None, with so many places offering good service no need to go here. Cons: No skill more

It took years for me to trust someone to cut and color my hair. I am a nurse and have learned to take care of others. Nikki takes care of me. My time in the salon is relaxing and It is the only time that I spend feeling completely pampered. She always listens to my suggestions and I have not been disappointed. Her staff is pleasant and the salon is just beautiful. If you want to feel good, look good, and do something special just for you or for your family and friends, I recommend a visit to Gel Spa. I searched for a hairdresser my whole life that would do what I wanted NOT what they wanted! And I found that person in Niki! I have since enjoyed a 12 year relationship with her every 5 weeks and have NEVER walked out disappointd , or worse...embaressed!!! She always listens and interprets my wishes perfectly. She also tells you what your hair can and can't do and still look good. She has always known what my hair needs and adjusts accordingly and keeps my cut up to date. I would fly to China to have her do my hair! I was thrilled to try her new line of ORGANIC hair color when I wanted a more natural approach. She always bends over backwards to work with your schedule also. Remeber to book early! She is ver popular and unlike other stylists-she never looses clients. Consider her the A-list for stylists in wake county and consider yourself priveledged to be on her client list. If you want people to notice your hair-she is the one. WEEKLY, I am stopped and asked about my cut and or color. She can give you that new make-over look you have always wanted! P.S. She also has a personality that alsways uplifts you! I have been chased down in grocery stores, my childs school at work and asked about my hair cut. I don't have to do anything to it. It doesn't get any better than that in my eyes. The last time a fellow co-worker asked me for her card while we were working in California. Good thing I travel with her cards...
