excellent school 6/9/2011

My son will starting his second year (8th grade) in the middle school at TDS in August. The academic standards are high, the teachers are top notch and the students are very accepting and supportive of one another. This is an amazing school with dedicated staff and lots of family involvement. more

low enrollment, financial trouble 7/14/2010

This school does have a nice faculty and staff - no one can argue with that. Classes here are TOO small with lots of enrollment troubles -- can be difficult for kids to find social circle (for example, some classes may have only 4 girls, etc). A lot of people wonder if this school will survive much longer. It seems to be on very shakey ground. more

What school should be! 10/9/2006

TDS offers a full and rich curriculum characterized by challenging academics, meaningful learning opportunities in specials (Spanish, Art, PE, Drama, Science Lab, and Technology) and an emphasis on the development of problem solving skills. Administration, faculty, and staff are genuinely interested in getting to know students and families. The school emphasizes respect for self and others. TDS offers an interesting and diverse selection of after-school activities. more

An Amazing School You Wish You Had Gone To! 10/5/2006

Favorite Things: The buddy program with the older kids mentoring the younger ones, hot home made school lunches, 3 days of active gym per week, weekly Spanish from grade K, a specialized science teacher as well as a ""technology"" teacher (aka... computers!). Specialized art and drama art. All in dedicated class rooms! Pros: Student Centered, Energetic Motivated Teachers more

TDS is Great! 9/20/2005

As a parent I couldn't be happier. Everyday my son (3rd grade) looks forward to school and comes home happy. He is challenged academically and learning at the pace that works great for him. We receive an excellent value from TDS for the reasonable tuition that we pay. TDS is committed to the education of boys and girls by truly focusing on the unique attributes of each child and by creating a dynamic sense of community. TDS emphasizes responsibility and the never-ending reach for academic excellence. I understand that they recently scored in the 10% of private schools in the US. No other school in the Triangle can touch the combination of academic excellence and value. more

This was a wonderful, caring learning environment for my son. I am impressed with the quality of instruction, sense of community and joy I see in the children daily. more

dedicated parent 9/13/2005

I have had children at TDS for the last 7 years and I have been overwhelmingly pleased with their education. I chose TDS because of the small class size, emphasis on academics and strong emphasis on respect for others and property. After becoming a TDS parent I found the school to have a solid base if parent involvement and support. I know most of the families at the school. In a city such as Durham, TDS is one of the few places that still has the community ""neighborhood school"" feel to it. I've never been dissappointed with my choice. Pros: small class size, reasonable price, strong parent involve Cons: no soccer/bball field, parking more

We have been a TDS family for four years. Our son has thrived in a learning environment that is small, nurturing and meets all his needs. We could not be happier with our decision. We love that parent involvement is not only welcome but encouraged. Pros: class size, staff, value more

Sinc I moved to Durham from Atlanta 4 years ago, I have been enhanted with Triangle Day School. Parents are very involved. Academics are solid. Teachers are caring. Each child is truly treated with the respect due to every individual--with their strengths and weaknesses. This school does what others only talk about!! Best kept secret in the Triangle. more

  • Triangle Day School is a K-8th grade private school. Academic excellence and intellectual engagement lie at the heart of our mission at TDS. In small classes, thoughtful, creative, and dedicated teachers develop a
wonderful rapport with the children, set the bar high, and then support students as they strive to reach their goals. Whether it's a first grader making a video in Spanish, a fifth-grader researching a city for his entire class to visit, or an eighth-grader presenting her research project to the school community, our students find joy in learning and take pride in achievement. Along the way, they develop a healthy self-confidence that serves them well in high school and beyond.
