I have an older SUV (1999 Ford Expedition) that I use to pull my 7,000+ pound trailer, roughly 6,000 miles a year. After many years of hard work the transmission gave out. I have dealt with many transmissions companies over the years, so I was concerned about finding the right transmission repair shop. Whitey's in Scottsdale (I have been using them for many years for normal repairs) recommended Tri-City Transmission, and I am so glad that they did. Everyone I met and talked to was professional and talked straight without any transmission lingo. Even when they thought they were done, the owner did one last quality check and notified me that the transmission did not meet his high quality standards, and they tore it apart again and found another minor part that needed to be replaced. I am certain I would never have known of the faulty part and they could have saved some time by giving me a transmission with a minor problem. They communication was excellent, they called when they said they would call and provided all the information I needed to make an informed decision. These folks have their act together. I would recommend them highly if you think you have transmission issues. more

I did some internet research and found Tri-City Transmission who is much closer to my home. I called them. I quickly felt more comfortable with them knowing this was there line of work. They settled the charges with the other shop, had the vehicle picked up, and had the clutch work finished the following afternoon. Tri-City Transmission was a Great Experience! more

I called to schedule the $78.00 diagnostic that they offer and as we scheduled the service. Randy told me that there could be multiple diagnostic fees, one for each problem diagnosed. I asked about it and he said you are not the type of customer we want (what one that is informed and asks questions in advance to better understand?) I explained that we have been a customer for years with no problems. He shared that I would have to speak with Dave the owner and he would have him call me. Dave left a message and I returned his call each of three days as he never returned my call. I explained that I did not understand why I was talking with him. He just stated that they can choose their clients and I am not one of them. REALLY? Sounded like they have things to hide from informed customers.....that is pretty much what I am finding in the reviews online. READ them before you deal with them....at least I was spared the bad customer service and poor service. more

After 2 different diagnosis by two other shops and more than $500 spent in worthless repair, I decided to get a third diagnostic at Tri-City Trans, regarding the check engine light on my Rav4 2000. \r Most important of all was that the car would not pass emissions because of this code.\r \r After their first diagnostic they let me know it could be a computer error, a wire or an actual solenoid. Either way the costs could reach easily at $1500 , most of it in extensive labor. I decided to go ahead with a in-depth diagnostic and after a few different approaches to this issue the techs were able to completely isolate the problem without affecting the functionality of the transmission.\r There are a couple things that I really appreciated in this thorough process:\r - they kept me informed every step of the way and even asked me to come to the shop so I can see what they see.\r - while going after this error they went cost efficient in their diagnosis (while knowing the car would not pass emissions)\r \r In the end the repair cost was four times less than what I was prepared for.\r If you want bright and honest techs working on your car this is the place.\r Thanks Dave!\r \r more

My car was out of warranty but they got the dealer to not only cover a $1800 part but do the labor for free also thereby saving me a very expensive repair bill. I would recommend them to anybody, very high integrity and service! more

DIFFICULT DIAGNOSIS, OUTCOME ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! 10/11/2011

My 2003 Toyota Highlander with only 88,000 miles started to have issues with the transmission. Tri-City Transmission could not determine the cause with the free diagnostic so we opted to spend the $100 to $300 for a more in-depth diagnosis. A new transmission was installed, then a new computer, a Toyota dealer was called to help, and then the Toyota engineers were called. A new plan of attack was chosen, and in the end I have my Highlander back running perfectly. The problem was a loose ground wire from the computer. Why am I so satisfied? Because I paid only for what fixed my car. Dave reinstalled my old transmission and computer at no cost to me. I paid only the original diagnosis fee, transmission service, and the reprogramming of my computer; a far cry from the thousands originally expected. Dave more

Tri-city Transmission is amazing! I have never experienced a more honest, friendly, and trustworthy car repair company of any kind. I brought my car in for service, and the mechanics at Tri-city diagnosed the problem and managed to get it repaired 100% under warranty. Don't go anywhere else to get transmission service! 9/21/2011

Tri-city Transmission is amazing! I brought my car in because it was acting up, and the Tri-city mechanics diagnosed the problem and got the repair covered 100% by warranty. They communicated with me every step of the way, and they were friendly and genuinely concerned about getting me the service I needed, no more and no less. Thank you, Bill, Wes, and Dean! I would not hesitate to bring my car back to Tri-city if it ever needs transmission service in the future, and I highly recommend them to anyone. more

Best Transmission shop ever 1/12/2011

There are not enough good things to say about this transmission shop. They are honest, reputable, provide outstanding customer service and most importantly, are absolute experts at transmission repair.\r \r I am a former mechanic (30 years ago) and know enough to understand how transmissions work, but not enough to fix them myself. Knowing what I know, I can assure everyone that this shop gives only factual advice and has absoultely no interest in selling you something that you don't need.\r \r The customer service is econd to none. Communication is awesome and they delivered absolutely on time. There is a great deal of confidence when dealing with people of honor, integrity and professionalism. Tri City is a master at all of those. Thanks guys! more

THE RIGHT PLACE 6/23/2009

I TOOK MY CAR TO AAMCO FOR TRANSMISSION PROABLEMS AND OFCOURSE THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT $4,000, I TOOK MY CAR IN TO TRI-CITY FOR A SECOND OPPINION AND AFTER A FREE DIAGNOSIS AND LEAVING MY CAR THERE FOR THE AFTERNOON THEY SAID WHAT I NEEDED WAS A SOLINOID PACK AT ABOUT $500.00. WELL THEY FIXED IT AND IT HAS BEEN GREAT FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THANKS GUYS PIZZA ON ME Pros: SAVED ME MONEY Cons: MY CAR WILL LAST ANOTHER 100,000 MILES more

An Honest Transmission Shop‎ 12/22/2008

This place is unbelievable. After getting a quote from another shop, I decided to get a second one at Tri-City Transmissions. They figured out it was really only a small problem and fixed it for thousands less than I was quoted from the other shop. They could have taken me to the cleaners and I wouldn't have known the difference. If you want an honest transmission shop, take your car here! Pros: Honesty, Service Cons: None! more
