We eat here often 5/10/2011

We eat here often. The food is very good and very reasonable. Service is friendly and for the most part very good(could be a little faster coming back to the table). I have never waited more than 3 minutes to be seated. Overall, a very good place to eat. more

Great beers 5/9/2011

I was headed to the hotel next door and asked the van driver if there were any good places to eat nearby. He recommended Tres Pesos, he said the food was great and the bartenders were hot! OK, a must check out in my book. I have been twice. Filling is the word. Food is pretty good. Not going to knock your socks off but it is tasty and seems fresh. Portions are large. Great beers, good atmosphere. Yes actually, my two bartenders have been very pleasant to look at as well! more

Good Food. Huge Portions 5/6/2011

Here's what I think of when I think about Tres Pesos: Cheap. Good Food. Huge Portions. Strong Margaritas. Bright Colors. Fast Service. more

prices are why you'll keep coming 5/5/2011

Tres Pesos tries bright colors to draw you in off Woodlawn, but their prices are why you'll keep coming back. more

The real winner however was the steak tacos 5/4/2011

The chips are homemade and come out of the kitchen warm and crispy. Two salsas, one is diced tomatoes and not a lot else but it's refreshing. The other is a traditional style red salsa with cilantro and a spicy kick. The real winner however was the steak tacos. more

A reliable bet 5/3/2011

Tres Pesos is tasty, cheap and chill. The chips are homemade and delish, and they have a choice of 3 salsas: a chunky tomato and onion mix that's closer to pico di gallo, a traditional red salsa with cilantro, and a fiery green salsa that they'll bring if you request more heat, which is perfecto. The fishbowl margaritas come with fresh lime and the food, pretty standard Mexican fare, is what you'd expect: hearty and tasty, if not especially healthy. A reliable bet. more

EXCELLENT 3/17/2011

GREAT SERVICE AND SO WAS THE FOOD. I HAD THE CHILI RELANOS AND SHE HAD THE STEAK,CHICKEN & SHRIMP FAJITAS. THE CHILIS WERE EXCELLENT AND HAD BIG CHUNKS OF TENDER CHICKEN AND WERE HUGE. THE SALSAS AND PICO WERE ALL EXCELLENT. THE SHRIMP WERE MORE PLENTIFUL THAN THE PREVIOUS VISIT, AND WERE EXCELLENT. THE CHICKEN WAS SMALLER PIECES THAN LAST TIME, BUT TASTED GREAT. THERE WAS PLENTY OF FOOD, FOR SURE. THE RESTAURANT WASN'T VERY BUSY TONIGHT AND THE WAITRESS DID A VERY NICE JOB. WE REALLY ENJOYED THE EVENING. more

Authentic Mexican Feel, Not the Finest Quality or Service 3/16/2011

Had dinner at Tres Pesos on a Friday evening not too long ago and I left saying...ehhh, it's ok. As soon as you walk in it has a old school mexican cantina type feel. Colors, sounds, decor...it all works. But after sitting down, I wasn't too thrilled beyond that point. I had ordered the Steak, Chicken & Shrimp fajitas for dinner. The fajita portion was enough to feed two people, which is always nice, but the shrimp were horribly overcooked and the meats didn't have much flavor to them unless they were charred from directly touching the cast iron skillet. The fajitas, well every meal it seems, comes with a massive cluster of accoutrement which don't make much sense so I basically left the accompaniments alone. It had seemed like it was the waitress' first day and she didn't really have much to say during our visit. The beers are cold, if you get the one you ordered, and the decor is authentic...the food, well you get a lot, but the quality leaves some to be desired. Give it a shot, maybe I just had a not so good experience. more

Authentic mexican restaurant 3/1/2011

I've only been to Tres Pesos a few times, but everytime we visit, it is a great experience. The chips and salsa are fresh, along with the ingredients of my meal. I had one of their specialty burritos that was way too much to eat in one sitting...make sure you bring your appetite. I'm glad to see they've update the outside of the restaurant because before it looked a little outdated. I would recommend Tres to anyone looking for a lot of foot at a reasonable price. more
