I recently ate at this restaurant. My party and I had several questions about the menu and our server seemed kind of clueless about the answers. I ordered the wedding soup which came out with bits of fat floating on it, I tasted it and realized it was ice cold. So I sent it back and it came out piping hot. My main meal was the lasagna. It was excellent. My friends also like their meals but we thought it was overpriced. I think the lasagna at Villa Nova is just as good and 1/4 of the price. Our waitress came out with a stack of the covers for the bills. Then she stood there with a long strip of bills and tore them apart in front of us and put them in the covers. I just thought it was kind of tacky, like something they would do at Applebee's. Pros: Easy Parking more

Occasionally fantastic, always good 3/17/2006

The service is truly as great as all the reviews say. The mushroom soup is fabulous. People who do bring young children tend to be responsible enough to remove them outside when they start becoming noisy. The restaurant is located in a trendy part of a trendy town in Columbus. Like all the yuppie/trendy areas of Columbus, parking is nearly impossible on a weekend evening. Unlike Cincy and other surrounding cities, everything here tends to be in a strip mall which means it doesn't have its own parking. We'd eat here more often if it had its own building. Pros: Good food, Near Perfect Service, Grownup Friendly Cons: Parking, Strip Mall, Small tables more

make your own mind up 2/2/2006

the sauces make most of the dishes. it's all fabulous but the rotollo de pasta may be my favorite. when the young girl bartends it can be a little slow getting a drink. she seems to be very inexperienced. Pros: taste, atmosphere, service more

Great Experience 9/18/2005

We love to dine outside and think Trattoria has one of the best settings on Grandview Avenue. Our server was terrific, very knowledgeable both about the wine list and the dinner menu. We desided to go with the feature wine, Centine, which was a great match to go with our food. My Salmon raviolis were the best I have ever had and my husband's veal was perfectly prepared, the Tiramisu is the best in the city. We highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: great service, fresh ingredients, fair pricing more

Very Disappointing 9/5/2005

My wife and I were really looking forward to checking Trattoria Roma out, but were very dissappointed. At best, some of our food was adequate and much of if was poor. I got a shrimp dish with a tomato sauce (can't recall name) - the sauce seemed as if it came from Trader Joes and that they tried to heat up cold cocktail shirmp (many were still cold). All in all, the food lacked any imagination. We are generally pretty openminded, but this is one of the few places I don't think we'll give a second try. Pros: Location Cons: Loud more

AMAZING 4/5/2005

I took my girlfriend here for her 22nd birthday because we were in the city for a concert, and I heard great things about it. It was her ""best meal ever"" and mine was perfect also. It is our new ""spot"" and plan on making the 5 hour drive for every special occasion. PERFECT food, PERFECT service, PERFECT atmosphere! more

Columbus' BEST! 1/13/2005

Having had the pleasure to dine in great Italian restaurants in northern Italy in the last few years, I have been spoiled and have a hard time finding comparable restaurants in the states. I was introduced to the Trattoria Roma through a friend who lives in Columbus and was amazed by both the authenticity and quality of food, and absolutely blown away by the level of service! Our server, Kay, not only knew the menu down to the smallest ingredient of each dish, but her passion and enthusiasm for the restaurant was contagious! We let her select our entire meals and loved it all. From the Mozzarella Caprese, to the Osso Bucco and Vitello Rosso, to the decadent Tiramisu and espresso dessert, everything was spectacular including her wine recommendation. What a great find. Columbus is lucky to have this one! Pros: Staff, service, atmosphere more

I got Lucky 1/5/2005

After spending a few days in the doghouse, I decided to take my beautiful girlfriend, Julie, out for a dinner to try to get back in good graces. Wow! The staff at the Trattoria Roma helped me out so much! They made arrangements to have roses on the table, got us a quiet corner table and then served us the best meal I have ever had. The Osso Bucco was amazing and Julies veal was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The salads and calamari were fantastic as well, and dessert and espresso made my girlfriend's day. Not only am I back in her favor, I got my dessert later! You have got to try this restaurant! Thank you to Shawn and Megan for a great evening. Pros: authentic italian, great wine list, oustanding service more

Il Migliore 12/28/2004

Far and away the best Italian the city of Columbus has to offer! The big chains are fine for what they are, but not true Italian. Authentic Italian is hard to find and authentic Northern Italian...well, forget about it. But this place is the best! Everything is prepared to order and is amazing. I could eat there every night! The staff are incredibly knowledgable and professional, but still very friendly at the same time. Great wine list compliments it all. Food, Service and Atmosphere are all five star. Don't miss this gem if you love Italian! Pros: intimate, authentic, great portions more
