For my husband’s birthday, we decided to check out Trattoria Siciliana. We were warned of their long waits and slow service, but we were also told that the food was totally worth it. Despite the fact that we were told we had reservations, they don’t actually take reservations for two (be warned). The wait was long and cramped, but we weren’t totally surprised by this, so we enjoyed just letting our noses soak in the smell of rich garlic and yummy sauce. The whole place smells like you want your food to taste. The kitchen is open, so you see the chief and his helpers as they work. This added a sense of community. Once we were seated, the servers were rushed and not very nice, but the food was good – gnocchi in a cream sauce with shrimp was excellent. My husband’s seafood tasted a little chewy to me. Not sure if it was worth the wait or expense, but that final taste of tiramisu might have made it all worth it! The wine is good too, but pricy!
