Service and Food 10/9/2011

Went there yesterday after visiting the shops on Main Street-big mistake. Had to wait 40 minutes for burgers. Burgers were ok but fries were tasteless and bland. Waiter was in wrong line of work. Not friendly nor knew what he was doing. We had to constantly ask for stuff. Water, condiments, etc. Waiter never asked how are meal was. Will not go back even for ""free"" meal. Do not waste your time. more

Gwaking server makes for a short meal 9/27/2011

My friends and I went this past Saturday night and lets just say I will NEVER be going back. Let start off the with pervert waiter (the name on our check with Dave M.) he kept flirting and looking down my top...excuse me...staring down my top. Shamelessly in front of the rest of my party. I went to the car and grab my zip up jacket, but yet he continued to flirt as if he didn't get the message that I was uncomfortable. I'm not sure if the service is always slow or he was just prolonging our stay so he could try to get another peek at the goods (lol) , but it took a good hour to get out food.. But honestly we have no clue how the food really was suppose to take because we hardly ate any and left...not just because of Creepy McWaiterstein but because it was very loud and just all around uninviting. Beer was tasty though, guess it would be the perfect spot for a guys night out. -Ver more

Weird rules for Men's attire 7/23/2011

I am from Evansville,In my friend I went into meet his boss. We were seated then a hostess came over with a dirty white t-shirt and told him to put it on. He was wearing a t-shirt it was a plain one wasn't quite sleeveless he has a arm band tattoo and his shirt covered it. We were shocked the women being served were wearing sleeveless tops and somewhere worse than that. If his boss hadn't suggested it. We would have walked out. I am going to recommend it to know one I know. Rule should fit for every customer but I guess we know why the like the some people to dress sleeveless don't we. more

Very Disappointed 2/10/2011

Our family was getting together for a special occasion and decided to visit Trailhead Brewery in St. Charles, MO. We called ahead to make a reservation, but the person we spoke with said, ""We're slow tonight and there won't be a problem seating you."" On a cold Thursday night in Feb., we went to the restaurant and we were told that it would be an hour wait. The restaurant seemed very empty with no sounds of a crowd. There were no other people waiting in the lobby, and we didn't see busy waiters carrying food. They offered to seat us in the bar, but we had two children and an infant with us, so that wasn't an option for us. We left feeling like they had closed all the dining rooms for the evening (around 7:30pm) and didn't want to serve us.WE WON'T BE GOING BACK. All nine of us enjoyed a very nice meal at Spiro's off of Hwy 94. more

Excellent local restaurant 1/21/2011

I live about 5 minutes off historic Main St. My boyfriend and I love this restaurant and try to eat there often. I highly recommend Trailhead. The chili and salads are phenomenal as well as the quesadillas. We have yet to have a bad experience here. The service is good and we are always met with a smile at the door. The patio outside just adds to the experience. We will continue to be loyal patrons of Trailhead Brewing Co more

Trailhead is my choice for HH! 12/17/2010

I live in St Peters and LOVE the atmosphere and the food at Trailhead! I always take out of town guests here and have had several casual business meetings there. The service has alwasy been excellent but the hostesses and managers are curt and crabby. Once you get past them it is all good. Maybe the Management and hostesses should learn from the outstanding servers how to "play nice" with the general public. BTW-Best HH around! more

Won't be back 10/11/2010

We were seated upstairs. Then they set up a table for 30 right next to us. While we were trying to eat more people joined the group so they had to bring in another table and more chairs bumping into our table several times. Why would they seat us there knowing full well a large loud group was coming in. We couldn't even have a conversation because they were so loud. When it came time to pay our bill the server picked up our card and held on to it while she took the order for the large group. So we had to wait and wait. Food was soso. We won't be back. more

Lively, noisy, good food, great drinks 5/3/2010

The Trailhead is a very popular restaurant; locals flock here and it's noisy but lots of fun. Weekends are hectic; plan on a wait and be prepared for slower service. It's part of the experience, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Drinks are outstanding; lots of choices and they keep them coming. The food is good; the portions are very large so keep that in mind when you order. This is a fun restaurant and we always enjoy our outings there. Pros: Great drinks, large portions, good location Cons: very noisy, busy on weekends more

Horrible Service 4/16/2009

None of the three hostesses acknowledged us when we entered. We had to ask to be put on the waiting list. We were told there was a 15 min wait and after 35 min we asked and were told there was a table outside. We noticed empty tables all throughout the restauarant. It took forever to be served and the food was mediocre. The calamari was soggy, not crisp. Will never go back! more

Terrible Experience 6/8/2008

We were very dissapointed with Trailhead Brewery Co. We were seated in the patio dining area. Our waiter was slow and it took over an hour to get our food. (and 3 of four guests had sandwiches and children's cheese pizza only!) He did not check back with us very often and we had to ask one of the busboys to get us a ""to go"" box and our check because we had not seen our waiter for 20-25 minutes. The salmon was ""fishy"" and dry and my wife left most of it on her plate. Our waiter asked how it was, but when told it was not consumable, did nothing to correct the situation. The beer was OK, but did not make up for the lousy service and food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Pros: the beer was OK Cons: Lousy service, poor food, extremely slow service more

Great fun 7/3/2007

As a native St.Louis person I can tell you this is a must stop if you are ever in the St.Louis area. From the cozy little coffee house (picasso's) which is another fun place to the cute little shops up and down main street, this is a must stop at place. A great place to hang out with your friends or if you are meeting someone. The best is on a nice summer night sitting outside and looking out at the river front or listening to the people as they go by above you. The food is very good, great prices, not sure about the beer I dont drink but told its good. Lots to do and see on main street, after words if you are feeling lucky try your luck at the Casino down the road or take a nice after dinner walk on the Katy Trail. Lots of places to read about history. Everytime im in St.Charles I make it here to eat. Friendly people and lots of fun, oh ya great food!!! What more can one ask for. :-) more

GREAT Happy Hour Hangout! 4/3/2007

I live in StC so we get to the Trailhead about 2-3 times a year. The dinners are okay, the burgers are very good, but the battered fish and appetizers are especially good-esp the barbecue chicken pizza (bbq sauce, chicken breast, red onions and cheese on thinnish crust-awesome, esp with beer!). And the portions sizes are filling for the price. I only drink the blonde ale, which is very good (like BudLight/Select only more robust), so I can't tell you about their other beers. The service is sometimes slow...but that's not necessarily unique to the Trailhead-ALL the restaurants in old StC are slow. Some more than others. I would rate the Trailhead's service as above average on slowness and quality compared to the other restaurants in its class in the area. It seems the restaurants in old StC either want you to have a dining experience or they don't employ enough wait staff. So keep time in mind when you visit any restaurant in old StC. The Trailhead gets unbelievably crowded on the weekends so definitely make a reservation, if they let you. Not really a place for kids, particularly on weekends, as the crowd gets rowdy and it's more of a bar scene. So if you want to take the kids, go on a week night (but NOT on a game night). Never sat outdoors but heard it was nice. After dinner, take a leisurely stroll down Main Street-lots of cute shops for you to peek in the windows at. And many bars, if you're in the mood. There is parking but it fills up fast...across the street and a nearby public parking area. The Trailhead may not be on top of the list of microbreweries in the nation but it's top of the list in St. Louis! Pros: Fun place to begin the night, aptz awesome, makes a great happy hour and game night hang out Cons: prices a little high-but not at happy hour, service on slow side, groups over 6 or 8 people (depending how thin you are) plan to sit outside or at two tables more

FABULOUS!! 11/16/2006

This restaurant is a must if you are anywhere near old main street on the St. Charles riverfront! Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere! It is a great spot for a gathering such as a birthday. They have several private areas for groups. more

Great Potential, Poor Delivery 10/19/2006

Trailhead Brewing has a unique location in a nicely renovated grist mill and is a great place to dine outside in the summer before the weather gets too hot. Although I was really impressed with their food and service in the early years of operation, it seems like they are willing to get by on image in recent years. The beer has never been on par with some of the microbreweries I've been to in Colorado or Utah and the food quality seems to have declined as well. It may be more due to the service than the food, since the delivery of beer or food seems to be out of synch even on a weekday evening when things seem to be slow. I still try it out 4-5 times per year since it is convenient when I have visitors coming in from the airport, but it generally fails to impress other than the building and surroundings. Pros: Great location in historic district, Close to airport Cons: Inconsistent or apathetic service more

Great Micro Brew! Refreshing Pale Ale! 6/7/2006

I was vacationing in St. Louis, and drove to the historic town of St. Charles. You really need to stop at Trailhead and get a beer. If you go between 4-7 (happy hour) the appetizers and pizzas are 1/2 price. Nice for the traveler on a budget. Ordered shrimp cocktail appetizer and a 4 cheese pizza that tasted mighty good with my beer! Since they don't bottle, had to buy a guzzler to take home (kept it in a cooler on ice) Tried two other micro breweries in the st louis area and their brew wasn't as good as here!! Pros: Great micro beer in historic atmosphere! more

A fun dining experience.... 5/10/2006

We have visited Trailhead twice, typically after a day of shopping the interesting little places in downtown St. Charles. After a day of this, Trailhead is a nice treat for the men among us; with all the 'pieces' of the functioning brewery exposed, it makes the dining experience very interesting - there is just lots to look at, and I've noticed it always keeps kids occupied. Meals here are very good and moderately priced - around $8 for sandwiches and $15-20 for entrees. Definitely worth stopping by. more

User review by scali_peters 1/29/2006

I recently checked this place out once during happy hour after work and a few times on the weekend to have dinner. Reservations are strongly suggested on the weekend as the place seems to get pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. I went to the downstairs bar to have a few beers on the 45 minute or so wait that I was up against on that particular Friday evening. On both occassions at the bar I was greeted with prompt and professional service and recommendations on the beer that would suit me the best. At the table the service was prompt despite the myriad of other people being waited on. Overall, highly recommended!! Pros: Excellent bar and wai Cons: long wait on wknd more

Out of towners delight 10/22/2005

Visiting the St. Louis area from California, we found this to be a delightful stop. The food was anything but ordinary but the beer was outstanding. I tried the blond ale, the dark ale and the seasonal pumpkin beer. All three were excruciatingly refreshing and complimented my turkey reuben sandwich perfectly. Coming from an area infiltrated with micro breweries, we found this one to be unique and very memorable. I would definitely re-visit Trailhead. Pros: reasonably priced, not crowded, parking no problem Cons: n/a, n/a, n/a more
