I stumbled onto this website and after reading a bad review posted here about Townsend Pest Control I couldn't help but add my 2-cents-worth opposite opinion. I guess it just shows that you can't please all the people all the time. My own experience with them has been excellent and over a long period of time. I work for (manage) a property management company on the eastside, and we use Townsend on 4 large condominium sites in Bellevue and several commercial properties. I have also used them on my own house in Issaquah for carpenter ants, and we see their trucks in the neighborhood all the time. I think my ex uses them. They're a fast response, thorough, and professional outfit. I've used several other pest companies at other property management positions, and business would be generally much easier if all our subs and vendors were as good as these guys are. It is a shame to hear that maybe they botched one job up, but I would recommend them to anyone. more

Don't consider these guys 7/11/2006

We hired Townsend Pest control (425-392-2213) last Winter, as we were having issues with mice/rats occasionally getting into the walls of our Bellevue home. They sent out a technician who was by his own admission pretty ill that day. Nevertheless, a couple of entry points were found, and fixed for a total cost in the mid $400 range. In June, we found one of the traps with a dead rat in it, and since ostensibly the entry points for rodents had been sealed, we called Townsend and asked that they come check to see how we were getting rats into our hous seven months after we paid them to get rid of the problem. They were more than willing to do so--for a new $125 inspection fee. I found this a little ludicrous, as we added no new pathways to allow rodents in, and we've had no earthquakes. Nevertheless, they were firm on this. They said that if one of their fixes had failed, they would repair it free, but if it were a "new" entry point, we'd pay for that, in addition to the $125 inspection fee. Now since their definition of "new" includes "something we didn't catch the first time around", which is the only variety of "new" possible in this case, this sounds like a perfect opportunity to drum up some repeat business due to their own negligence. And of course, this bad news was delivered to me by a receptionist. The general manager, who she was quoting, wouldn't talks to either my wife or myself. I would seriously consider other options--unless you enjoy paying more than once for a very poorly done job. These folks are incompetent, and their conditions for fixing the problem indicate they're aware of it. If they're not willing to warrantee their work for even a year... more
