Editorial review from Citysearch 5/16/2013

Not Happy! I signed on to CitySearch just to write this review. Mike, the owner, came out to quote us for our move from Downingtown to Glenmoore. He was very nice and professional. On moving day, I think they sent me the ""B"" squad. A hole was put into wall near my staircase with a treadmill after I told the movers to use the back door and that it wouldn't fit up the stairs. There were also several scratches in the hardwood floors in the hallway and in a bedroom. The one in the bedroom looks like they took my dresser and just dragged it across the room. The movers didn't tell me about these scratches, but when confronted after I saw them they said ""oh yeah, we know. We'll just put them on the paperwork"". They also dismantled my screen door and never put it back together before they left. And to top it off, they left a window open (that didn't have a screen in it) when I have two cats that easily could've escaped. We also discovered scratches in our dining table that weren't there before, bur didn't notice until the movers left. When I called the company, they said I would have get a free estimate and send them a claim form. One month later, I am still waiting to hear about my claim. I am also EXTREMELY disappointed that NOBODY apologized once for the damage done to my house. I expected a phone call from the owner so I could tell him what happened, but it doesn't seem like anyone at the company cares. If i wanted to put holes in walls and scratch floors and furniture, I would've moved myself. Do yourself a favor and go with another company. more

Extremely disappointed - don't be fooled 11/18/2010

I found this company recommended online. When Mike came to do the estimate, he was on time, professional, friendly, & gave us the lowest estimate by far, even without requiring an exact number of boxes. It seemed too good to be true but the estimate was binding, so we went with them. The 3 young guys (no Mike) arrived on time on moving day, all very friendly & professional as well. It soon became clear that Mike had underestimated how much space we'd need in the truck; once the truck was full, we were told there was nothing they could do about the rest. We had to bring an entire trailer-full of stuff ourselves. The next AM when they dropped our stuff off, I started to get upset as they were bringing in furniture & boxes & putting them wherever they felt like. After they left, we spent days just rearranging things from where they dropped them so that we could start unpacking. They lost a leg to my bed, brought my mattress in snagged & with dirty hand print on it, and brought a lamp in with a huge dent on it & the pin missing to turn it on. (They did go back & search the truck & found the pin & the bed leg.) We had gone with the $.60-per-lb insurance. When everything was unpacked, I found that nearly EVERY piece of wooden furniture had was scratched or gouged. They had broken a brand new fan as well as one of my tvs. I wanted to be reasonable, so I claimed 3 things only - the fan, the tv (which was a 27"" tv/vcr combo of the old-school ""box"" kind. it was huge), & also a $300 tv stand with several large gouges out of it. After weeks of ""processing"", I received a check in the mail for less than what I claimed, with a note that the tv was not 50 lbs as I claimed but instead 25. I felt outraged that they were telling me how much my tv weighed & undercut my damages amt. The note also stated that this was their ""final"" offer. Also - the guys ASKED me to write them a review so they could win a company contest. So I question how many of these positive reviews were genuine. more

GREAT Moving Company - Referred to several friends! 10/7/2010

I used Town & Country movers when I moved my family from Pennsylvania to Delaware. I was very impressed when the owner personally showed up to my home for the estimate. He was friendly, funny and professional. The estimate was very competitive and I decided to hire them. more

These guys are the best! 10/5/2010

I read a few of these bad reviews, and just can't understand it. THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST! Mike came out and told me that the move would take 2 trucks, and 7 hours to complete. The move took 2 trucks and 7 hours to complete. Mike told me the men would place the furniture where I wanted it, and the men placed the furniture where I wanted it. The furniture was padded, and not scratched at all. Miraculously they spun a huge armoire around a corner and down the stairs, and they left no marks on any of the walls. The men were polite, funny, and accommodated my every request. I would use this company again without hesitation. more

Bad company to work with 8/12/2010

The move out of the house was fine, but the move into the new house was terrible. They broke several pieces of furniture and never told us. We found several kitchen boxes completely smashed. They refused to put furniture back together although it was in the contract. They scratched walls and floors. They also recorded 50% more hours worked than actual hours worked. When we called the office, they suggested that we are lying, and did not resolve the situation. Stay away from this company! more
