I have been referred to TSJI's Santa Monica facility by doctors for years. They seem to have good medical services, and it is usually easy to get an appointment, but their billing services are plain awful:
They seem to outsource their billing to another firm, and every single year there are problems, e.g.: they bill you for the full amount of the procedure, pretending they didn't have your insurance info on file (which is false since they ask for insurance cards and details at every visit); even with the insurance company confirming that they should file a claim before you are billed, they pressure you to pay the whole amount anyway; or they take forever to bill you, then send you notices of delinquency right away, even though you have already paid. Getting them on the phone is a nightmare, and when you do, they refuse to bulge, preferring to treat you with arrogance, even when it's obvious that they made a mistake; rather, they won't hesitate to threaten you with collection.
TSJI's billing system is clearly dysfunctional -- unless it is deliberately set up to create delinquent accounts at patients' and facility's expense. It wastes everybody's time, and causes unnecessary stress to patients. After several years of this, I'm done, and will request that doctors refer me to other facilities in the future.
