Southern Indian Food at it's best! 1/2/2009

Careful, the quality of the food at this restaurant will spoil you! I've eaten Indian food from New York to Atlanta and it all comes up short. If I ever move from Columbia this will be the restaurant I miss!\r \r I highly recommend the Chicken Curry with vegetable Pulow (tasty basmatti rice some peas and carrot bits). The curry is so good. It's completely addictive. You'll find it on the buffet every Friday night and you can order it any time. My other favorite is the Mysor Masala Dosa. Be sure to try some hot Naan (a pita like bread) with the curry. It's amazing.\r \r Samosas are a tasty treat too, think spicy potato goodness in a crispy shell with a sweet dipping sauce. YUM! And the mango lassys are great after spice food.\r \r About the service.... Yea, it can be slow, as with most smaller family places. If you're always in a hurry try the buffet (for lunch or friday night). After you know what you want you can always call it in and have it ready. Devi is awesome but so is Ramesh (her son). He's really friendly, and he takes amazing care of us.\r I saw another reviewer had mentioned a cleanliness issue... I'm not sure how he came to that conclusion but I have more confidence in TOI than I do in any Corporate restaurant. These are people that care, they really do treat customers as family and they do an amazing job.\r \r I can totally see how a first time visitor might feel a bit ""out of place"". It's more like going over to a friends house who happens to be an amazing cook, except you're in a restaurant. As soon as you get past the informal feel you will begin to cherish it. It's one of those largely unknown restaurants you'll be eager to show off to your friends. :) more

Food Worth Waiting For 9/10/2008

OK, the service can be slow, but I've been going to Touch of India for about 16 years and the food is really good if you know how to order. \r \r Absolutely get the Marsala Dosa.... it is fantastic. Perfect crispy crepe on outside, wonderful tender spiced potatoes, onions and lentils on the inside. The Mysor Marsala Dosa is good too if you like an extra bit of spice. The inside of the Dosa is coated with a ginger paste that is very savory. The tandori is good, so is the chicken curry with vegetable palo, actually any of the curries are good. One of the best dishes is the Manchurian chicken. I would order this as a last dish to come out as the flavor explosion will overwhelm just about everything else. The chicken has a crispy coating, but the secret is in the sauce which is both sweat and tart...lots of garlic and you can get it mild or hot....ok, I've just made myself hungry.\r \r My suggestion to anyone is to go on Sunday, when Devi, the owner is there. She's maybe 60 and from Southern area of India and is absolutely one of the nice ladies I've ever met. Very sweet and full of wisdom. When her son is there things are a bit slower as he is lazy, when his wife is there however, everything moves much faster as she keeps him in line. Bottom line, it is a family business. They treat their customers like family, and it is the authentic real deal Indian food...if you want fast food go to Micky Ds. If you want really good Indian and your in Columbia, go to this place.\r \r Pros: Fantastic Indian Food and Devi Cons: It can take a while to get your food more

Tasty treat that won't empty your wallet 8/24/2002

The food is delicious. If visiting one should especially try the traditional Indian tea. It make a perfect desert. The service is excellent and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The wine nor liqour list does leave a little to be desired. The atmosphere is casual and very relaxed. Go with the intention of having a good time and leaving full and satisfied. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, great service Cons: poor wine list, hard to find more
