Nasty and dishonest. I do not know anyone who goes here any more, and it's time to spread the word about her dishonest business practices and her rude behavior. It is amazing after hearing horror stories about her that she is still in business. Better consignment shops - and owners - are in Avon and Canton - for all the people that have lost money or items, bring your business elsewhere. more

What a dishonest and truly evil person. Nita MacCallum lived quite well off our money with no payouts for over a year! She then runs out of money and decides to file personal bankruptcy (which in turn wipes out her business debts since she was a 'dba'). She continued to sell our items and used the money to re-open a little over a month later as an LLC! Same name and location minus one floor with all of the items that we supposedly received a letter for to pick up. Now she is selling our items at her consignment shop and keeping the profits yet again...sound familiar? How did she get to keep all the fixtures and displays? How did she get away with just her word for the thousands of letters she never sent? How can she now keep all of our items and stay in business? I advocate a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT and a BOYCOTT of this facade of a resale shop. There are plenty of consignment shops to support in the Farmington Valley who are the real deal. 5 in a 5-mile radius between Canton, Avon and Simsbury alone!! more

Entered into agreement to consign item. Item sold approximately 04/2010. Also was repeatedly told payment would be received. NEVER did. NEVER will. Received letter today stating bankruptcy filing. That's it. Protection for the business none for consumer. We lose. more

I used to sell clothes in Dallas at the most wonderful consignment store. It looked like a department store with all the merchandise displayed really well and organized in areas like suits, evening, casual, etc. They had tons of real designer wear and it was a 1st class store. Checks were mailed out monthly and as the store was so nice, the prices were less than a department store, but more than a lot of consignments. As I had such a positive experience, when I moved to CT I decided to try Touch of Class in Simsbury. The first thing I noticed was that there was NO organization and it totally looked like a used clothing store. I was told that I could pick up checks each month. SInce then I have tried for the last 3 months to get paid and have been put off each time. I keep getting different answers as to if they mail checks or are to to picked up. Every time I come in, I'm told that the checks are to paid ""next month on the 20th""... this has been going on for 3 months. Be aware if you actually do try to sell things - you may not be paid. Giving to Salvation Army is much more productive and honest. more

I purchased a bunk bed set and was told it was roughly 2 years old and included all necessary hardware. It seemed like a fairly good deal but as it turned out was a horrible waist of time and money. When I arrived home and began to put the set together I realized that the hardware was missing. I called the owner, Anita and was told that she had it and I could either pick it up or she would mail it. I elected to drive back as the kids were anxious to get them set up. The next day we drove back up to the store. Upon arrival we were handed a zip locked bag and assured all items were accounted for. I arrived back home to find they were not, we only had half . Clearly the original owner put all the hardware in two zip locked bags and Anita lost one. She assured us she would locate the parts and if it that turned out not to be possible she would ""make it right"" . Its been 3 months now and I have not heard from Anita since. I have placed countless calls and she has ignored each one. I contacted the manufacturer , Ethan Allen and was informed the the set was over 10 years old , not two, and long since discontinued. No replacement parts are available. I can only be thankful I'm only out 300 on the beds,. I would advise against dealing with this unscrupulous individual at all cost. Cons: unethical owner more
