Hank Tosh is a true craftsman and a pleasure to work with. Hank helped us restore our Adrian Pearsall couch that is trimmed with a wood front and perched on some beautiful shaped wood legs. He literally had to remake a portion of one of the legs due to it's ill repair. When it was finished I could not tell which one was remade,....it was a perfect match and the finish was flawless!! I had a good feeling about Hank when we ran into him and his wife a few years ago,...and then to have a good friend of mine, Matt Bagley further recommend him and his work. He is a true artisan and craftsmen! This world is in dire need of more Hank Tosh's out there! He not only delivered my high expectations, BUT exceeded them......and that is very difficult to do, just ask my wife :) Toshmahal gets my highest recommendation! more

I was referred by the owner of Sputnik Modern when I called to ask if they knew someone who could repair and refinish two mid century modern pieces of mine. The work was done very quickly and the furniture is just exquisite. Both pieces look better than when I originally purchased them. more

Hank has restored several pieces for our family including an Edward Wormley dining table and a couple of side tables. Without fail he has been a total professional, providing prompt estimates, fair pricing and full explanation of his recommendations – which adhere to the authenticity of each piece. His work is thorough and timely, including regular photo updates along the way for each project. I couldn’t be happier with the results for our furniture! Hank shows a love for his craft & work which goes above and beyond the call of duty: two years after he’d expertly restored our dining table, I contacted him following an accident which stained the table… Hank responded right away with careful instructions, prescribing in detail the steps I could take to undo the damage before it became permanent. 1951 Philco Restoration 2/25/2012

Hank Tosh at Toshmahal came recommended from an Antiques Radio Club as a furniture refinisher for antique radios. I was looking for someone with a great reputation for quality work with a respect for restoring antique pieces back to original state. I had an antique 1951 Philco radio in need of restoration, with sentimental value-- it belonged to my grandmother. When I took my radio to Hank, he explained what would be required to restore it, and calmed my fears about the refinishing process. He showed me some of his work in his shop, and I knew he was a craftsman and a professional. Once he started the process, he kept me informed with e-mails and pictures every step of the way. Hank is a true craftsman with wood and does exceptional work, has attention to detail. The radio was not in very good shape to start, but he replaced a bad veneer that looked as though it was the original, stripped, stained, and restored the radio to its authentic state. It came out beautiful. exceptional modern furniture restoration! 8/22/2011

Hank Tosh of Toshmahal is a phenomenal craftsman, a true artist. He is extremely knowledgeable and respectful of antiques but, most importantly he remains loyal to their authenticity. Hank is a wonderful person to work with, he takes the time to explain to you what he will do to your piece(es), is very reasonably priced, prompt, and an all around great guy. I have taken several pieces for Hank to rescue and all have had beyond exceptional results, I couldn?t recommend a better person than Hank, I highly recommend Toshmahal for your furniture restoration needs! more

OLD SCHOOL APPROACH STILL EXISTS! 8/21/2011

Hank is definitely ""OLD SCHOOL"" in his approach to finishing furniture. Proud of doing a good job, no shortcuts. Has a very good knowlege of quality furniture and the importance of bringing it back as close as possible to its original state. I highly recommend him. Fair when pricing. Thanks for a great job. more

Hank was a pleasure to work with! He provided a free estimate when I sent photos of my dining table & chairs within 1 day. I really appreciated his prompt response and attention to detail, I was on a tight budget so I sent inquiries to several refinishers in Dallas and only heard back from a few. Toshmahal had a mid to low range estimate compared to the others but I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to touch my furniture after seeing his work. My table looks amazing, like mint condition vintage, which is just what I was hoping for. I was also really pleased that he kept me informed throughout the refinishing process- it was so interesting to see how it was coming along. I had no idea how much work is actually involved with refinishing! Hank is truly a professional, I couldn't have gotten these results with anything I might have tried to DIY. Overall, I'm really pleased and will definitely be bringing Hank my dresser and anything else I might find! more

Another Satisfied Client 8/29/2008

My husband and I had been searching for a Heywood Wakefield table for the past 2 1/2 years, and not finding the exact one we wanted in the price range we could afford. We finally found the one we wanted and decided to trust Hank to bring it back to its former glory. Hank kept us apprised of his progress by emails, even sending scanned pictures of the pieces as he finished them! He completed the table, 2 leaves and 6 chairs within the 2 weeks that he promised and the furniture is gorgeous! He did a really wonderful job. We are very happy with our new furniture and will enjoy it for many years to come. We promised Hank to take good care of it, and will use the TreWax polish that he suggested every 6 months or so, to keep it looking like new. Excellent Furniture Refinishing 3/24/2008

Hank at Toshmahal is the greatest. I had a mid-century dining room set that my parents bought when first married. After 50 years and 5 kids, it needed some attention. The chairs all needed to be reglued and the table top was haphazard looking at best. Hank did a great job refinishing the furniture and gluing the legs. My parents said that the table looks better than when they first bought it. Hank also refinished a teak Kofod Larsen chair I bought on eBay. It looks incredible! His prices are very fair and he was very good about keeping in touch with me about problems that got discovered along the way (such as missing part of a table leg) that required cost adjustments. I highly recomend him. His work is fantastic!! more

I highly recommend Toshmahal...Hank does such amazing work and is so helpful and communicative! He made our older piece of furniture look brand new and was so pleasant to deal with, and also his prices are fair and reasonable. Hank talked us through each step and ended up making our piece look much better than we thought it could look. We are already trying to get him to refinish another piece of furniture-we feel so lucky to have found him! more

Gem 3/7/2007

Having a taste for older furniture in need of refinishing seems to have been a calling. Most of what I have collected over the years are modern pieces in desperate need of repair. The fear of refinishing old gems is whether the person hired to undertake the task understands the look and character of the furniture as originally intended. Hank has the gift. He has not only the knowledge of the furniture?s history but also \r the desire to bring the original beauty back to the piece. He gave my old furniture new life with craftsmanship and appreciation. Not only is Hank exceptional at what he does, he is also reasonably priced. Hank is as rare a find as the furniture he refinishes. more

Toshmahal was recommended to me by friends? my husband inherited a Conant Ball dining table with buffet and we later bought chairs to complete the set. All were in serious need of refinishing. The table had water stains and discoloration, as did the buffet plus wear around the legs, and the chairs had burn marks from sunlight. I received an estimate for cost and duration of the job, both reasonable, and I was kept informed about the progress throughout- Toshmahal suggested an original Conant Ball stain for the pieces. So beautiful- all the imperfections are gone and the finish is outstanding!! A+++++ furniture refinishing!!!! 2/23/2007

Hank Tosh, the man behind the quirkily named 'Toshmahal' is an extraordinary talent. I stumbled across his buisness online and after seeing before and after shots of his work, decided he was the one to refinish the 1970's Parsons table I had hastily purchased for 50 dollars on Craigslist. The table's lacquer finish was marked with 40 years of cigarette burns, crazing, dents, scuffs, you name it. Hank readily accepted the challenge and after about a week and a half had transformed my table into a beauty. He stripped about 12 layers of paint off the table, sanded it down, and re-applied the lacquer with astounding results. I am so proud of the table and pleased that I happened upon Hank's home buisness. He prices are very resonable, he works extremely hard, and he never accepts less than pefection! I'll be using his services often in the future. I highly recommend Hank Tosh of Toshmahal for your next restoration or refinishing project. \r more

Amazing Furniture Refinishing 2/21/2007

My recent experience with Toshmahal was absolutely amazing! I recently moved to Dallas and the moving company hired to move my belongs damaged a 1940's Heywood Wakefield hutch that I had inherited from my grandparents. The piece was dropped face first onto concrete and in my belief was damaged beyond repair. I called the only place in Dallas I could find that even sold Heywood Wakefield and described the damage to them. They told me that the only person they knew of that could handle such a repair was Hank Tosh owner of the Toshmahal. I called Hank and sent him some pictures of the damages. He assured me he could refinish the piece and completely remove the damages. \r \r The Toshmahal picked up the piece refinished it and returned it to me in only a few weeks! I was shocked when the hutch was returned to me. The hutch looks better now than it has ever looked. Also, since Hank uses genuine Heywood Wakefield finishes the hutch's value has actually increased since being refinished (not usually the case with antiques)! \r \r Overall, I am incredibly pleased the service I received from the Toshmahal. They did something I thought was impossible and in a very short amount of time for a very fair price! I highly recommend them for any furniture refinishing.
