Terrible Experience 5/16/2011

I had a terrible experience today at this location. I typically get my hair cut at the Toni & Guy in The Woodlands, and have consistently wonderful experiences there with Jessica. At this salon, Michael (the "highest level" of stylists) cut my hair. I had a LivingSocial voucher for a haircut, and as soon as I pulled out my coupon the staff started treating me differently. Michael seemed to rush through my hair cut and had another girl style half my hair while he left to help someone else. Then he came back to rush through the rest. I asked for texturizing, but he barely touched my hair after he finished blow-drying it. Now my cut is blunt and somewhat uneven, and they put so much product in my hair it felt waxy and too-thick. I washed it as soon as I got home rather than enjoying the beautiful styling like I normally do when Jessica does my hair! While Michael was styling my hair he said things like "You have a lot of hair" and "Almost done!", like it was some kind of chore for him to do it. He even left it a bit damp when he was done so that my hair ended up being frizzy an hour later. When I checked out, the girl at the counter was mumbling and rushing through the process, even though I was purchasing products. I wasn't even sure when I was okay to go because the just tossed my receipt in the bag, pushed it toward me on the counter, and looked away to talk to a co-corker. I am extremely unhappy with both the service and my haircut, and will not be returning to this location ever again. I was shocked when Michael told me he typically charges $95 for a haircut- I would NEVER pay the haircut or service I received today. more

terrible experience 3/30/2010

I went in for some pink streaks and a funky trim for my pixie 'do. I walked out with sad, pale pink dye that lasted only one wash, and an uneven haircut that left a lot to be desired. The place was a wreck, very dirty with hair all over. Not what I'd expect from a nice salon. I get better service at Birds. Definitely not worth the big price tag, especially if you're trying to "treat" yourself. more

Toni & Guy-Barton Creek 9/11/2009

I have been getting my haircut by Sheena @ the Barton Creek location for about 2 or 3 years now & she always does a GREAT job. After a botched haircut and die job from another salon (wich made a LOT of my hair fall out) she has worked with me to give me haircuts that make my hair look and feel MUCH thicker than it actually is. I have never had a bad experience with her. I also have to say that her blow drying skills are ridiculous! I get SO many compliments the day I get my hair cut! It is a little expensive (about$60/visit) but it is definitly worth it! more

A Great Place 7/10/2009

I have been going to Toni and Guy since I was 10 years old. I have never received bad service. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone. My only suggestion is that you make an appointment before going to the salon. more

Unprofessional Staff = Unprofessional Salon 4/10/2006

I made an appointment for 11:00 AM and arrived 10 minutes early. Unfortunately, the couple with the keys to the salon didn't arrive until 11:15. While I was waiting in the Mall, I watched other customers and employees arrive to wait with me. You could easily tell who were the employees--they all wore white and for the most part, they looked like they had slept in their clothes and just got out of bed to come to work (without combing their hair). I heard one of the girls, with red and black hair, telling someone on her cell phone that she was just going to take a nap on the bench until someone unlocked the door. The ultimate turnoff was the couple who came to unlock the door. The guy, who was probably the manager, had pierced ears with large disks plugging the holes--a look that might say success in some remote parts of the world, but doesn't say success in Austin. As I watched the employees open the salon and start to get ready for customers, I realized that not one of them had a good haircut. By then, a little voice was screaming in my ear--danger! danger! Run while you can! So I walked back out of the salon to call my husband, who was walking the mall. As I was talking to him, the girl with the red and black hair came out to call me for my haircut. I was extremely relieved to tell her I had changed my mind. So I don't know how good they are--I just know it didn't look like a place where anyone would want to get a hair cut. more

hip haircuts, rather pricey for a chain salon 3/19/2006

I started going to Toni & Guy Hairdressing because I was in Barton Creek Mall one day feeling especially shaggy, and was able to walk up and get in quickly. I stopped going because even though I loved every haircut I ever got (from different stylists), I felt it was a bit too pricey for a place in the mall and I found the way they push their products annoying. I would dread that part of the experience each time. I would recommend them in a pinch, but you could seek out a local salon and get the same quality easily. more

great stylist 11/30/2005

I'm not usually one to get my hair cut at the mall, but took a chance here. My stylist, I think her name was Kim, was nothing short of amazing. I was about 7 months pregnant and had some major roots coming out. SHe was able to cut it and show me how to style it so it wouldn't look so obnoxiuos. She also showed me several alternative ways to style my hair, which I really appreciated. more

expensive service. 11/13/2005

Toni and Guy Hairdressing is located in the Barton Creek Square Mall. It has a nice clean place full of hair stylist. They have their own brands for hair care products. If you are there for a haircut, they charge you according to the level of the hair stylist. The lowest level still charges for more than 45 dollars. Very expensive. Make appointsment before you go. more
