great service, great food, lots of space 3/9/2004

I've been here several times. The service was attentive and a couple times they even brought us free ice cream just for the heck of it. The appetizers are tasty and nicely made and I love the beef sukiyaki. Oh and the portions are pretty generous. I wouldn't agree that it was overpriced. Pricing was pretty average for a decent Japanese restaurant, only slightly more than say Isobune but much nicer surroundings. Pros: great food, great service, easy parking more

Overpriced 8/3/2003

Tomokazu presents a very artificial Japanese atmosphere throughout the entire building. There are a few sections on the side that allow traditional Japenese sitting w/o shoes. The fish is extremely expensive, but not incredibly good or fresh. The meat dishes seem to be the better part of the meal. The lamb chops and the yakitori are sweet, but not quite tender enough. The main problem with Tomokazu is that the price is quite high, while the food is only slightly above average. Pros: Tasty Meat, Fresh Fish Cons: Expensive, Artifical Atmosphere more

good 5/12/2003

Tomokazu is a good place for sushi if you plan on sticking to mainstream sushi. Their fish is fresh and they even have an amaebi tank in front with jumbo sweet prawns. The only problem is when you want to have something other than tuna, salmon, or yellowtail. There is nothing special about their sea urchin and their monkfish liver is not worth ordering. The place is good for large groups and parties. more
