If you're looking for some cheap eats off the Strip, check out Togoshi Ramen. Located in one of Vegas' many strip malls, Togoshi's fairly unassuming with tinted windows. The decor inside isn't particular fancy, but there's a tall bookshelf full of manga to read while you eat. The menu contains a variety of Japanese staple foods but features their soup. My date and I ordered two appetizers and two bowls of soy-based ramen for around $26 total. The portions were generous and waitress efficient. This place is about as authentic as you can get in the States so check it out if you rented a car or can get around Vegas pretty easily. This is the best ramen in Vegas. I haven't tried anything else, but the ramen sure is scrumptious! The service is really good when they're not crowded. When they are crowded though I noticed the service isn't quite as good. You should also try the green tea ice cream. The miso ramen with extra cha shu is my personal favorite. Did the place serve authentic ramen? Yes, it did. What's the problem then? Most of the food they serve you could buy from the Japanese supermarket (in L. A.) and duplicate it at home, if not better. There's no personality or added value to the food. Simple home made food sold at a restaurant. Nothing to be excited about. I simply cannot remember there was one single dish that I would like to eat again. The cha-shu was blend and the bamboo shoots, instead of the sauteed dyhydrated type, was straight out of a can. The all important soup stock was definitely uneventful. However, in the absence of better competition in Vegas, this place would do. I'm Japanese (not Japanese American), so let me first make something clear. This is a Ramen place. It's like going to a Hamburger joint. You get Hamburgers, not Hotdogs or steaks. They do have some other things here, but you really need to get a Ramen here, and nothing else. This is probably the most authentic Japanese food you can get in this town. It's good, it's cheap, and it's authentic, what else can you ask for?? My recommendation is Negi (green onions) Ramen. By the way, Ramen is a noodle in a large bowl of soup. It's kind of similar to Pho in Vietnamese cuisine, but milder tasting. This is a very casual place, akin to going to a hamburger joint. A trip here shouldn't cost you more than $10. Togoshi Ramen delivers large helpings of tonkatsu, gyoza, ramen, curry rice, and more. Don't expect sushi on the menu. Who'd go to a ramen house to order sushi anyway?
