Delicious and abundant sushi! 3/21/2006

I went to Todai about a year and a half ago while in Tampa visiting a friend. There is no buffet that comes close to presenting Japanese foods so well. The sushi is well wrapped and they have a lot of variety. They even wrap special rolls if you ask politely. They also have a hot bar with ramen and udon as well as other japanese treats. I remember thinking that I wouldn't mind living in Tampa if I could go to Todai every weekend. It is a little pricey ($20 per person for dinner) but if you go to a nice sushi bar, you can easily spend well over $20 on a single order. Todai is truly a sushi lovers dream. I wish there were one in Tallahassee! I did hear from a friend that they recently changed names (meaning they are no longer a part of the franchise). I checked todai.com and there is no longer an entry listed for Florida (the closest are Texas and Virginia!!!!). Hopefully the new owners/management can keep the same quality sushi on their buffet....if not...what am I going to do!? more

Best Buffet in Tampa 3/19/2006

I absolutely love going to Todai buffet. The selection of food is just fabulous and they also have a great variet of sushi too. The sushi chefs will even make rolls to order if you ask nicely and it always tastes so fresh. I especially like some of the hot items on the buffet and the fact they even have a nice quality strip steak on the buffet. The made to order crepes with icecream, sliced banana and whipped cream are the perfect end to the perfect meal. Did I mention you even eat free on your birthday. more

getting worse but still good restaurant 8/23/2005

I liked this restaurant before, but food quality is getting worse recently. There are many kind of sushi (nigiri and maki) even though the fish piece is getting too tiny. You can also have Japanese noodles (udon, soba, and ramen) if you go there on the weekend. There was my favorite small cake that was made from “tofu” before, but I couldn’t find it last time. Maybe it is over. However, this buffet is still good. more
