Very relaxing experience 4/29/2012

My wife and I ate there this past Friday. We sat outside. The weather was great, and it is a relaxing atmosphere. \r \r The food was just as awesome. We enjoyed some appetizers and the environment. The Pico de Gallo was excellent. All the vegetables were fresh and a great flavor that was not overpowering with the jalopenos. \r \r By far the best appitizer was the Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls. They were so good, that we ordered another plate. \r \r If the weather is nice, sit out side and enjoy downtown Raleigh. more

Best sports place in the triangle 7/30/2011

My wife and I love this place, food is great service is decent. It can be a little crowded at times but other than that a wonderful place. Best place to watch sports by far, not a lot of meat heads or obnoxious fans. Is it a 5 star restaurant, no but defiantly a 5 star sports bar. more

I won't be back 7/25/2011

We had an absolutely awful experience at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe in downtown Raleigh. We had our rehearsal dinner there on a Thursday night. I thought it would be great because they wouldn't be busy on a weeknight, so I went in expecting excellent service. It was the exact opposite! The person I had been in contact with was Rommie, and I had set up a fixed menu at a fixed price. I arrived a little later than the rest of my guests, and found that they had been given the regular menu (Rommie had promised to have the fixed menu printed and on the table when we arrived). I thought it would be no big deal, and I spoke to the manager that was working that evening and told him about the mix up. He said he would handle it. Meanwhile, our group of 20 had only one waitress assigned to us, who we later found out was in training. Many of my guests did not have drinks, and in some cases it took asking 3-4 times and waiting 20 minutes to finally get them. We waited for quite some time before, finally, another server decided that maybe he should help. We still hadn't gotten menus. They gave me an excuse that Rommie had a sick 3 month old at home and the menus were with him. I was sympathetic, but I don't know why a new father wouldn't have a backup plan in place! Evidently the staff didn't even know how large our group would be, just that one was coming in. My mother (thank goodness) had printed out a copy of the menu I had emailed Rommie, and we had been passing it around. Eventually the staff had to take that to make the menu because, evidently, they couldn't get in touch with Rommie. My sister asked if some sort of appetizers could be brought out because at that point we had been waiting over 45 minutes and were starving. They brought 2 plates of pico de gallo and one of guacamole, all of which was inhaled within minutes. We finally got to ORDER over an HOUR after we all had arrived. As far as I know, no one had any issues with their food. When we got the check, I saw that they charged us for 2 extra heads, but that was straightened out quickly. They didn more

If Best Buy is out of TV's, It is because they are all here! 10/25/2010

I've have made 3 visits to this place, service is consistantly good, as well as the Nachos. One of the only places I have been that doesn't just stick cheese on the top. The Cheese is everywhere. Steak frite could be the worst however, tiny steak very fatty. Shrimp and Grits on the other hand GREAT. Either way I would recommend the place. It is the place for you if you like to watch sports. more

Great Sports Cafe 8/14/2010

After noticing this well attended sports cafe on Glenwood Ave., it was difficult to resist trying it out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive in this laid back and casual restaurant. Our order was promptly taken and received. There are a variety of items on the menu to meet most customers' needs, including vegetarian items. We were pleased to see that the portion sizes here are substantial, even for the sandwiches. Every item was well prepared and delicious. Be prepared for larger crowds later into the evening and on big game/fight nights. From what I understand, it's one of the only sports bars in the area that features UFC fights and other big ticket items on Pay-per-View. Groups of singles comprise most of the attendees to Tobacco Rd., which is a nice benefit if you are also single. Enjoy a great time with great food in great company here! more
