I needed a noise checked on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has 40,000 miles. I went to the dealer (now Island Honda but was the Chrysler/Jeep dealer until it closed.)
I was first told that both front shocks needed to be replaced and the cost would be $300.00 plus. I told them to go ahead with the repair and they came back and said that the repair would actually cost over $400.00 and that the parts would have to be sent from Oahu at an additional cost of $20.00.
I said forget it after paying $65.00 to be lied to!
I looked around and found TLC Automotive on Lower Main in Wialuku. I spoke with Al at TLC on Friday and described the problem and the experience I had with Island Honda. He thought that it was just a bushing on the shock.
I took the Jeep in at 8:00 AM on Monday and it was fixed by 9:20 at a total cost of $109.00 tax included. The shop isn't fancy but the employees are friendly and competent.
It was great to find an honest mechanic on Maui and I wanted to pass on my experience.
