what an atmosphere 10/27/2005

This is a historic theater for Chattanooga. They hold dance recitals and school functions like graduations there. they used to hold screenings of old movies like North by Northwest and that was a neat experience. The CSO plays there and it really is a nice experience. The seats are old but relatively comfortable and they have enormous bathrooms!! No food or drink allowed past the lobby. more

Jewel Of The South 8/29/2005

The Tivoli Theater in downtown Chattanooga is home of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra and Opera, as well as host to a variety of concerts and live events throughout the year. It is a spectacular setting. The theater is a beautifully ornate structure with seating on the balcony as well as the main floor, and box seating on either side. It has a dome shaped ceiling, and some of the most exquisite crown molding and crystal chandeliers of any theater I've ever seen. The acoustics are also excellent, and although it is not nearly as large as the historic Fox Theater in Atlanta, it rivals the Fox in atmosphere and beauty, and provides a more intimate setting. Free parking is available for concert in the adjacent parking lot. It's worth a trip to the theater just to see the exquisite decor. This 75 year old structure is like a visit to a by gone era, and offers an elegant setting for any live event. more

Theatre anyone 8/19/2005

Chattanooga is home to the Tivoli Theatre, a spectacular historic showplace known as the "Jewel of the South." For 85 years the grand old theater has entertained Chattanoogans, offering everything from silent movies to Broadway blockbusters. The Tivoli still offers Chattanoogans the finest in entertainment and cultural events. The Tivoli is the home of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Association, and also welcomes a wide variety of road tours each year. With offerings from blues to bluegrass and classical to country; plus dance, opera and the best of Broadway, the Tivoli is at the center of Chattanooga's cultural life. Its elegance and intimacy have made it a favorite of audiences and performers alike. more

Nice Theater Downtown 7/28/2005

The Tivoli is a beautiful old theater located in the business district of Downtown Chattanooga. It's so nice to see that this theater has been kept up and is able to bring shows to Chattanooga. While the theater doesn't have any parking, there is parking on the downtown streets and there is also a parking garage right next to it. The only problem with parking in the garage is getting out at the end of the show, when everyone else is also trying to leave. The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera both perform here, as well as international acts on tour. Several musicals have been staged here and even comedian Jerry Seinfeld has performed at the Tivoli. The theater is beautiful on the inside, the seats all seem very good, and it is not too big. The only problem is that there aren't enough bathrooms to accommodate everyone quickly during an intermission. Be prepared to wait in a long line. more
