Best Burritos EVER! 10/21/2008

I've eaten many burritos, but TA's is by FAR the best. They have SO many options for chicken alone: Pollo Asada, Pollo Colorado, Pollo Verde. They let you mix and match as much as you like. My friends and I used to go to the one in Isla Vista next to UC Santa Barbara. It closed the year I graduated and I can't wait to be passing through San Luis Obispo to grab a bite. Pros: Variety of chicken Cons: Only one location left! more

Wonderful Surprise- our new favorite! 4/3/2008

Simply because of easy parking we ended up in Tio Alberto's and how fortunate for us! The menu offers both comforting traditionalist choices such as burritos & tacos as well as some choices for the more adventurous. We ordered chicken and carnitas tacos; soft tortillas with wonderfully spiced meat (not soggy boiled chicken!). Taking a chance on the day's special (not on the menu) we ordered the Veracruz Tamale. Outstanding! Choice of veggie, chicken or beef, we got both veggie & chicken. The filling was full flavored - not just spicy, the corn batter is moist and the right amount (not too thick or dry as most tamales are). Best of all is the wrap; instead of the usual flavorless corn husk, Tio's are wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed perfectly. The leaf adds an insanely great flavor, reminds me of a Hawaiian Taro Leaf wrapping. Subtle yet distinctive, the whole tamale is infused with the steamy taste of this unique flavor. I live in No. Cal and will stop by Titio's on my way up AND down the coast- and have recommended the stop to my friends & family. I just hope the tamales are often available... although I presume the rest of the offerings are just as good! Personal and very friendly service- and nice fish tank too! Pros: Outstanding food, service, ambiance & parking Cons: none! Are they too busy at any specific time? We had no wait, but were there at an off hour more

Best Carne Asada Burritos in the free world. 8/23/2007

TA's has been a fixture in SLO since the early '90's. The carne asada is marinated and spiced better than any I've ever had, even in Baja. Other than that it's a faily typical Mexican taco stand, with good salsa, huge quesadillas, etc. Pros: Best Burritos anywhere at any price Cons: Not open until 6pm on Saturdays! more
