Stereotypically Bad Car Buying Experience 2/2/2009

I had a terrible experience buying my first new car at this dealer! Looking back, I absolutely should have walked out, but I was young, I'm a girl and I did everything you're not supposed to do when your buying a car. But here are the highlights of my bad experience after I decided to buy: -- When I was negotiating the price of the car, they NEVER told me how much the actual car was. I made the mistake of letting them know I was financing and that I had a trade-in, so all they would tell me were my "payments" -- Once we agreed on the "monthly payments" (a long process in and of itself), when I got back to the finance office the price went up $30 a month! Like I said, today I would have walked out but it was a bad time for me not to have a working car. At my shock of the price difference, he said to me "You're not going to let a measly $30 get in the way are you?" -- Which leads me to my other point. They were TOTALLY rude the whole time. Earlier in the day when I said I wanted to come back with my boyfriend (who didn't actually help at all) the finance manager said "What, you can't do it by yourself? You need you boyfriend to help you buy a car?" Really manipulative and condescending. I hate salesmen that pull that kind of junk. -- Finally, once I bought the car I came in the next day to finish the paperwork. They couldn't get my credit union on the phone while I was there, so they proceeded to make me wait. I waited for a good hour and a half before I became livid and a little hysterical, until finally I just left. Once I got a hold of my credit union officer, she said she has never heard of a car dealership acting that way. So that was my horrible experience. It still makes me mad to think of it and it was over 3 years ago. I had some maintenance work done there and the servicemen were actually pretty nice. But the salespeople were terrible so I would avoid this dealership like the plague! P.S. I got nothing for my trade-in Cons: Sales Manager was a manipulative liar more

We had a terrible experience at Tim Marburger Mazda! 1/23/2008

In my 39 years I have never dealt with a business that has conducted themselves as poorly as Tim Marburger Mazda. On Jan 17th, Sales Manager Al sold us a 2008 Mazda 5 with a Navigation system and DVD player. He said it wasn't on the lot, but needed a $2500 deposit for them to get it in. Then he made an offer on our trade in, checked our credit, gave us papers to sign and told us they would have in on the lot after the weekend. On Jan 18th a salesman called to say that they could not get the car with Navigation system and DVD Player. We again said that those features were important to us and we would not have purchased the vehicle without them. They should have been certain that the car was available before they took our deposit, checked our credit, and had us sign paperwork. On Jan 19th they said they would bring in a Mazda 5 and add the Navigation system and dvd player themselves. Then on Jan 21st they said they could not add the Navigation system because Mazda Parts would not let them have one and there is not another system that would fit the console. On Jan 22, after much disappointment, my husband and I decided that we would take the car without the Navigation system. We went to Tim Marburger Mazda ready to put all the disappointment behind us and excited to finally purchase the Mazda 5. We sat in an office ready to finalize the deal, and Sales manager Keith came in and told us he was not going to sell us the Mazda 5 because of customer service reasons. After all they put us through, selling us a car they didn't have, telling us they could add the features we wanted then telling us they couldn't, sales manager Keith told us one final piece of disappointing news. They were not going to sell to us for customer service reasons. My husband and I left the dealership absolutely stunned. We did not deserve to be treated this way by Tim Marburger Mazda. Save yourself a great deal of frustration and disappointment and AVOID this dealership!! more
