We are about to embark in a big renovation and have been looking for tile for a while. We have been to Tile Showcase in Watertown twice and both times service has been really bad....

MANY thanks to Adam at the Natick warehouse. Your kindness & patience today in accommodating my unusual request is very much appreciated. You helped me resolve a 10-year old decorating dilemma. more

Wow, I'm shocked by the other reviews here. I had an excellent experience at Tile Showcase. I've been renovating a kitchen and went to two places before settling on Tile Showcase. A tip: make an appointment before you go! I did and so a designer named Amanda was able to give me her undivided attention and assistance. She listened to what I wanted and then steered me toward choices within my price range and style interests. She explained the pros and cons of various tile choices and brought out several examples for me to compare. A major advantage to Tile Showcase is that everything is out on display -- there was no slogging through piles of tiles (which I did in another store I visited.) And there are many lovely displays to help with the choice. It's possible to walk into the store and choose to tile a room based on one of their many bathroom, kitchen and floor examples. Finally, while Amanda hunted down tile samples for me I had the chance to observe other designers with their customers. Everyone seemed friendly and professional, and the receptionist was great. I suspect that the only people who weren't getting as much from their experience were those who walked in without an appointment. So make one! You won't be disappointed. more

I thought this place was Big Bucks but I've actually found the slate backsplash and kitchen flooring there for a lot less than anywhere I'd looked (for the sort of tile I needed). I was on a tight budget and found backsplash for about $3/sq ft there. But yes, like all other stores, they carry the higher ends items,too.\r \r They are REALLY busy on Saturdays, when people who work can go and shop so don't expect relaxed face time unless you have an appt....they can move pretty briskly on Sats. Go during the day, if you need more time with a sales person. I have a relationship now with Stephanie, and she knows me (she's really helpful and remembers what I've been looking at/looking for) but she can't always stand and chat if I just show up. You need to give your name at the desk and then hang out to wait your turn...and that can be a drag. so, just be advised.\r \r Make sure to visit other stores too, before going here. (I've been to about 15 in the Boston area!) The atmosphere is just different. I found I was totally ignored at most of the other tile places, cuz I guess I don't look like I'm rich! But in other places, you can flip thru zillions of tile cards - here, the tile cards are the actual tiles on a wall. You can take them down, move them around, room to room, and when you bring home a sample to hold up against something, it's the real tile that abuts the walls/cabinets, not the cardboard. So you really see what the tile will look like near paint/wood, etc.\r \r Oh, loads of free parking in the back. U don't have to park on-street and during the week (not sat...boo) they have a clearance room downstairs.\r \r Also, they are within blocks of two or three other tile places, and down the street from Home Depot. The tile I found, btw, was much nicer and cheaper than what I found at Home Depot...or online. more

I was somewhat concerned going to Tile Showcase due to the other reviews posted here, however when I looked up this business on Angie's List they received an ""A"" grade so I gave them a chance due to their convenient location relative to where I live. Upon my first visit, I soon realized that they suggest people make appointments in order to ensure good customer service. So on this 1st visit I browsed the showroom without any interruptions or sales pitches, which I actually preferred. Once I was ready to get more information, I made an appointment and returned a couple of days later. I was promptly greeted by a customer service representative who was patient, resourceful and more than willing to guide me through the numerous choices. When I finally selected my top choices, the representative gladly provided multiple quotes and delivery time frames that helped me make the final choice. Everything arrived as promised and I could not be more pleased with the selection and service I received. I am a happy customer and will definitely go back to Tile Showcase for any future tile needs, but I do highly recommend that any other yelper's call ahead and make an appointment once you are ready to discuss your tile needs. more

I had a great experience with Tile Showcase. My tile search began at the Natick store where I was introduced to designer, Alba. She was critical to the process of narrowing down the myriad of choices they offer. I brought in an inspirational photograph to give her a sense of the look I was trying to achieve, and she delivered! She took the time to listen to what my priorities were, and then suggested ways to enhance the look. The Natick store closed and I followed her to Watertown to finish the process. When something in that showroom caught my eye, I hesitantly asked if we could play with a couple of new looks. She was more than happy to take me through the process again until we came up with the final design. The best part about this experience is that I have approached the bathroom remodel with complete confidence. I am not second guessing whether my choice in colors or materials are complementary, and that is a great feeling when you are making such a big investment. You could spend hours (or days) looking around a warehouse by yourself, but I m convinced that the design services offered by the professionals are invaluable to the process, providing efficiency and peace of mind of the project. Thank you, Alba! more

We were redoing our 3 original 1962 bathrooms and needed help with tile. Tile Showcase (and Rene') were recommended to us by our Plumbing store, and with good reason. She listened and looked at the pictures of what we like, and worked with our budget. We wanted transitional, we got transitional. It totally updates the bathrooms in a cool, spa-like way. They have a great showroom, it can be overwhelming even, it is so diverse, so she pointed out things and helped us focus. She is a designer, and we really benefitted from her knowledge. She also was not pushy, and worked through all our questions. Making an appointment is essential at Tile Showcase. Weekdays are better. Our only surprise came when 3 boxes of tiles could not be returned to the store, they were special order (as everything we had ordered). We learned that even though their staff makes the calculations of how much we will need, if there is a surplus of tiles, we have to keep them, no reimbursement, partial credit only I believe. more

Our experience with Tile Showcase in Watertown was pleasant in every way. My husband and I first visited to view and select tiles in summer 2012. We couldn't purchase what we wanted right away, but the store gave us a $100 coupon good through the end of the year. We returned to review our selection and purchase the tiles, and A YEAR LATER, the store still had our file. We weren't the best customers, indecisive, and going back and forth over colors and quantities, but Claire Quinn, the Customer Service Rep, was unfailingly patient and helpful, and she always got back to us within 24 hours. I would not only recommend them without reservation, but would use them the next time I need to purchase tiles. more

I had an extremely satisfying experience at Tile Showcase. Rene met with me countless times to help me pick out kitchen and breakfast room tiles. It took a long time for me to make my final decision but she patiently guided me through the whole process. I completely trusted her eye and sense of design and will highly recommend her to friends of mine. more

I am a huge fan of the store! Great selections, knowledgeable staff and although it can appear expensive, quite competitive for the product they offer. My experience with Alba was everything it should be, creative, efficient and fun! It is a pleasure to work with Alba and will look forward to the next time! more

Tile showcase has the best selection for tile - hands down! They have terrific customer service - Karen E in the Watertown showroom is my go-to person and Claire in customer service/shipping/outlet has been a great help. Often custom tile orders require patience (the best custom materials are always worth the wait) but Karen and Claire have always kept me informed and keep things moving at the promised pace. Karen is great with layout help and estimating quantities. I LOVE using Tile Showcase - a bathroom and kitchen designers dream! more

We had a great experience with Tile Showcase. All the salespeople we spoke to were a huge help - especially Alba. She was courteous and patient in assisting us with all our needs. She did a lot of leg work getting us what we wanted and was a pleasure to deal with. We would definitely go back! more

Great experience in the warehouse. Agree that getting the attention from the upstairs showroom may be challenging but with an appt it makes a difference. They warn you that Saturday's are busy...make a weekday appt or plan to walk through for ideas on a Saturday. There is a reason they are busy, they have terrific stuff. \r \r Shopping the warehouse after walking through the showroom was perfect. I already knew what I wanted and Claire who works in the warehouse on Saturday's is about the best person out there. Wish I had another project so I could go back. She was helpful, responsive on the phone and email and very thoughtful. Best of luck to anyone shopping...I'll be back. more

Most of the negative reviews of Tile Showcase have to do with the sales personnel. I can't speak about any of them other than Alba (who's based in Watertown since the Natick showroom closed) and she rates at least 5 stars. My husband and I have been designing and redesigning (and redesigning) a bathroom in our home for much of the past year and Alba, with seemingly endless patience and good humor, has stuck with us. She's been warm, welcoming, and available as well as knowledgeable and professional. She has followed up on everything we've asked her to pursue and is always responsive to our concerns. Tile Showcase is extremely lucky to have her as an employee. If they were able to clone her, their yelp star rating would jump from 2 to 5. more

We had an excellent experience. We are renovating a 50 year-old bathroom in an old house that we are getting ready for re-sale. We wanted something stylish but inexpensive. First, our guide, Amanda, never made us feel bad for wanting to keep costs at a minimum. She was totally respectful. Second, she was warm, efficient, thoughtful, creative, and energetic. At one visit, there was lots of boring arithmetic to plow through and she was a total trooper. Third, she returned calls, followed up perfectly, did what she said she would do. We had a terrific experience. more

I saw Tile Showcase reviewed on Chronicle and decided I had to check out their warehouse. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a wonderful man who asked me if I needed help. Lucky for me it was actually the owner Fred and he could not have been more helpful and gracious. The quality and prices were fantastic and Fred was very knowledgeable on all the products i asked him about. I was so impressed with everything that I actually made a purchase and plan on returning! I got a fantastic buy, came away with some useful information and have been telling all my friends to check it out. more

I had a VERY good experience at Tile Showcase, both in the showroom and the warehouse. The woman in the showroom had some helpful ideas for a decorative kitchen backsplash, and pointed out some particularly nice tiles which she said were available downstairs in the warehouse. I was helped there by two people on 2 separate occasions, both were great. This place is my preferred tile store in the Boston area!!! more

I visited the warehouse after hearing about them on Chronicle. I got some really great stuff, and the young woman who was there Claire I think her name was could not have provided better service been nicer and bent over backwards to make sure I was satisfied. I would definately go back there and shop again. more

We just completed a major construction project and were warned not to go to tile showcase because it may too expensive. However, we purchased all of our floor, bathroom, wall, fireplace and other decorative tiles here and loved ever minute of the experience. Great sales advise on colors, grout, amount to purchase with minimal waste. True these tiles are more upscale in appearance but not necesarily in price. We had an excellent experience and recommend Lisa at the Natick store and John at the Watertown store. Pros: best selection and design ideas Cons: store hours more
