Best

A good vet is hard to find. Tigard animal hospital is a great vet. Their prices are extremely reasonable, the staff is very nice (to both people and animals), and you don't spend ...

Worst

They may charge smaller fees but they do a hard sell on upgrades and unnecessary products. When I went to pick my dog up, they also charged more than the quote. They told me the...

Definately better than Hayden Meadows 3/23/2010

They advertise the spay is $49, but then let you know the animal will need drugs and fluids which costs more. I was a bit put off by that, but to spend only about $40 more than I did at hayden Meadows was okay. The staff is much better and they used stitches that did not have to be removed which was really nice, and some kind of laser healing thing which seemed very fancy.. Except, the wound has not healed quite right, but that could be because kitty got into a tussle with one of my other cats. Might not have to do with the stitches. But if you are looking for an affordable place to get a spay or neuter, I would go there. Every place I could find in Portland was $200 or more! I ended up spending $100 because they do push some other stuff on you. Pros: Very good with follow up professional Cons: Wound did not heal as expected more

They really care about animals 3/10/2010

One of the few places in town that participates in the much-needed Oregon Spay/Neuter Fund coupon. I took a stray in to be neutered (they were able to schedule me for a next-day appointment!) and they were willing to provide any extra services I wanted at a very reasonable rate. Unfortunately the kitty was FIV+ and did not make it through surgery as the disease was so advanced. They were so pleased with me for trying to do the right thing and so dismayed at the way things turned out that they did not charge me a dime. I could tell from the many updates and thank-yous they called me with that these people truly care about the welfare of companion animals. If I lived in the Tigard area I would definitely take my own pets here. Pros: Nice, Caring and Attentive Staff Cons: On a busy street more

Horrible Service! Verbal Bait and Switch! 7/28/2009

We took our kitten in because she had a swollen lip. The doctor told us that she would need an oral anti-biotic for $40 or a shot for $80. WE AGREED ON THE ORAL ANTIBIOTIC ONLY. The Doctor told us a nurse would be in to show us how to administer the oral anti-biotic. He then returned and without explanation and gave our cat a shot. We got the oral anti-biotic after. When we went to the desk the doctor claimed that he explained she needed a shot for the swelling that cost $45. When I refused to pay for the shot because we never agreed on the shot they KEPT OUR CAT! My boyfriend the owner of the cat had to go in and talk to DR. Ben Edwards. When he talked to him he said he had explained that she needed the first shot for the swelling and the antibiotics for a infection( he did not explain that there were multiple treatments needed when I was there). When he asked the DR if she had agreed on the first shot HE SAID NO AND THAT HE ""ASSUMED,"" that she had agreed on the first shot because she chose the oral antibiotic. When he called him out for ASSUMING DR BEN EDWARDS turned around walked off and told a staff member that he would not talk to him and to have (unsure of name) talk to me. He then turned to him and said one of the staff will talk to you. They refused to give me the cat without paying the full balance. So he paid and will be reporting them to the Business Bureau and speeking with our lawyer to take them to small claims. I feel like we were discriminated against by the doctor because of our age (20) and the doctor tried to take advantage of that. When DR BEN EDWARDS was called out for ASSUMING she wanted the treatment by a 20 yr old he ran off with his tail between his legs and WOULD NOT TALK TO HIM. We contacted our parents who have heard multiple complaints with a very similar situation atleast 4 other times. We will be compiling all the complaints to send to the Business Bureau and will NEVER do Business with them or any company who refers or deals with them. I hope you do not make the same mistake we did! DO NOT TAKE YOU ANIMALS HERE! more

AMAZING CLINIC!! 9/9/2008

I would (and do) recommend this clinic to anyone with pets. We take both of our dogs there!!! \r \r If you go to the Oregon Humane Society website you can get a coupon to get your pet spayed or neutered I was nervous at first because you always think you get what you pay for. But Tigard Animal Hospital is great!! \r \r Everyone in the office is great to work with!!! Pros: Great office Staff, Good prices, friendly experiance!!!!!!! more

Best vet I've ever been to! 2/12/2008

I don't know where these negative reviews came from, but I have had nothing but wonderful service and quality care at this vet! I've had several dogs and cats over the years, and have had lots of experience with good and bad vets. These people are definitely the best. I got a puppy a few years ago, and Tigard Animal Hospital has always provided his veterinary care. They got him in for all of his puppy shots the day after I got him. When it was time for him to be neutered, I called to make an appointment and they had me bring him in the next day. I've never had a vet that was so accommodating with scheduling before. They even have a drop-off/pick-up program for surgeries, which is so convenient for people that have to work during the day. All of their services are very reasonably priced, and they are one of three vets on the West side that accept the Oregon Spay/Neuter coupon. I got my little guy neutered for $49.00! They have always been courteous and professional with me, and I wouldn't dream of taking my pets anywhere else. Pros: Pretty much everything! Cons: Tigard traffic is wretched, but that's not their fault. more

I love this place! 12/17/2007

I just got my dog, Lex neutered here and it was a wonderful experience! The front desk girls were friendly, kind and very easy to talk to. I called a few times to check on him and they happily helped me. It was easy and I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there for the surgery. I highly recommend this place. Thank you girls, you rock! Pros: Kind staff, easy to find location Cons: Traffic more

worst vet!! 12/19/2006

If you care about your pet DON'T take them here!! I took my 7 month old pup. to get spade. There quote...$60.00. End bill 600+. Talk about a hack job!! My poor pup!! First we get here home, she was swollen. Ok to be expected. Next, one day later, there was bleeding, and swelling. So we took her back for her ""free"" follow up. There was an infection. Next they stapled her up. We got her home, and she was still covered in a bleeding mess, and the staples were sticking out of her at odd angles!!! So that night we took her to the hospital. They were great and help us fix every thing. So all in all we spent over $900.00 in getting our lil'girl fixed. I am very angry at the way they ""off handedly"" treated us. I cant stress it enough. Cons: every thing!! more

Beware KENNEL COUGH!!! 9/15/2006

We took our new 6 month old yellow labs to Tigard Animal Hospital to get neutered. We ended up having them boarded for a few days afterwards due to home improvement projects. Not only were we misquoted on the total cost of everything, our puppies came away with kennel cough. They treated the dogs for kennel cough, which we believe is something that they contracted at their hospital and would not budge on the cost of treatment...total cost of everything was over $900 for both dogs in the end. Now the puppies are on antiboitics and cough suppressants and due to nature's law they keep giving it back and forth between each other. I would not take my puppies back there if it was the last hospital in the Portland Metro area. more

Misquoted on cost of visit - would do nothing to help resolve the problem 7/21/2006

Tigard Animal Hospital mis-quoted us on a follow-up visit on a stray cat we rescued... a cat we couldn't afford to spend additional hundreds of dollars on (we had already spent more than $450 on his previous vet visit and meds - at Tigard Animal Hospital). We phoned prior to taking him in for an idea of how much the follow up visit would cost... after being put on hold for a minute, we were quoted $46.00. I would understand if the visit was maybe a bit more, but it was just under $200! The vetrinarian would do nothing to make us happy. We weren't expecting him to reduce it down to $46, but he could have made a bit of an adjustment. Vetrinarian visits are marked above the actual cost - he could have reduced the price- at least a little.\r \r We know that mistakes can happen... but, a lot can be said about a business in how they handle those mistakes. Beware if they are unwilling to see things from the customers point of view and unwilling to make adjustments that are agreeable to both parties.\r \r We have other animals and will NOT be returning to Tigard Animal Hospital and do not recommend them to anyone else. Pros: Office staff is friendly Cons: If there is a problem, don't expect them to help you resolve it. more

Poor Treatment by staff 5/31/2006

Rude - wouldn't return if they were the last clinic in Portland. more

Customer Service 10/30/2005

Because of the customer service I drive 30 minutes to Tigard Animal Hospital. I live in Aloha and have numerous clinics much closer, but because of Dr. Genova and his staff I drive to Tigard. My dogs are more important to me than anything else in my life. I fully entrust their care to Dr. Genova. The staff remembers me every time I call the clinic. I've never felt like just another customer. Pros: attention to detail, value, trustworthyness more
