TVH team- It's been a month since my little buddy, Othello, passed away. MY house still seems empty - hard to believe such a little guy could fill it so completely. I miss him every day. One of the things that help was receiving your card. I put it amongst the Christmas cards tand looked at it often. It touched my heart and every one I showed it to. It makes me feel good, in retrospect, to know that Othello was fortunate enough to be entrusted into your car and it makes me feel good to know that people such as yourselves exist in this world. Othello and I were lucky to have found such a great place, of that there is no doubt. Keep doing what you are doing and know I am certain that every animal and their people that interact with your fine team is fortunate, indeed. Wonderful customer service - friendly, helpful, open to concerns/suggestions. Brilliant and knowledgeable Dr. Luke - knows resources and options from very surgical experience and knowledge. All staff are so nice to the animals, friendly and knowledgeable vet techs. Everyone here seems to LOVE animals so much & to get to know their patients terrific!! more

Tierrasanta Veterinary Hospital is the best. Dr. Luke is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. She want's what is best for her patients and recommends it. Her staff is as equally knowledgeable and compassionate. I have to say she isn't the least expensive Vet out there but she is worth it. She always gives an estimate of charges and tries to stay within those limits and will call when the work they are doing is going to exceed the estimate. They even pass out pagers to the pets owners so they can be sure to get ahold of the owners in case of an emergency. Who does that? Thats amazing. She also does ""at home euthenasia"" which allows your pets suffering to end in an environment that is comfortable and familiar. That was a big deal for us as some of our previous pets got old and sick. Thank you Dr. Luke. more

A little back story here, I just moved to the tierrasanta area a couple of weeks ago so I finding a vet wasn't the highest priority at that time. Ha well as luck would have it my puppy got sick late in the evening after I got off work. I looked up vets on google and started calling. Most weren't open and I finally got a hold of Tierrasanta Vet hospital. They were open and got me in very quickly. Dr. Luke was great and took very good care of my lil' pup. They seemed genuinely concerned with the well being of my dog and were quick to show me around the hospital while I was waiting. I've used a couple of other vets while being here in san diego and I felt the most comfortable here with the short time I spent with the staff. The prices are fair and you can't beat the staff. Anyway in short I would feel completely comfortable taking my dogs there under any condition. more

Absolutely Horrible, Big Scammers 12/8/2010

My experience was exactly like Betsy W.'s. I never really write reviews for places, but this experience was so bad, I felt that I should warn others about it somehow. I too, took my dog in for a small allergy problem. Just like Betsy W., the vet came in, looked at my dog for 3-4 minutes, left the room...and in came the Vet tech. The vet tech seemed a little uncomfortable holding the 'estimate' in her hand when she came in and before giving it to me, immediately began explaining that 'she is about to give me the estimate and if I need anything explained she would try to do so and they have a payment plan available if necessary.' She finally gave me the estimate and it was $700! The estimate had charges for tests that would be done just to see what the problem was (including a test that would not get results in for about a month later), which was fine; but I thought it was strange that it also had charges for treatments as well, all of which I was to go home and start right away. more

not real hot on TVH 11/8/2010

I stopped taking my pets to TVH a few years ago because everytime I boarded my dogs there, something would happen to them. The last time, my dog put a minor scrape on his nose from rubbing it in the cage door. They put a medicine on my dogs nose and of course she licked the medicine off and became sick to her stomach. I got a call from TVH telling me that they would need to do blood tests,etc. all to the tune of $400+. I did not authorize and of course my dog recovered fine. This same type of thing happened a couple other times too. TVH really tries to push extra services and they do put the guilt trip on. I switched to Tierramesa Vet Clinic and have been completely satisified. more

Dr. Luke saved my cat's life 11/5/2010

Dr. Luke saved my cat's life. CatNabbit is my son's first pet, and he was heartbroken when she was so sick - it turned out she had eaten something she shouldn't have and had to have surgery to remove a piece of a plastic Buzz Lightyear toy. Dr. Luke's direct nature helped me separate from my emotional distress and make a good decision for my pet and my family. Her staff helped me apply for the Care Credit that let us afford the surgery. Now CatNabbit is recovering and my son does a better job picking up his toys.\r \r CatNabbit is a member of our family, and I am so grateful to Dr. Luke for saving her life! more

Just say NO to Tierrasanta Veterinary! 10/26/2010

I had a horrible experience at Tierrasanta Veterinary hospital. I was pressured to get my dog spayed earlier than I preferred and quoted ridiculous prices for all services. I felt pressured by Dr. Luke and her staff on multiple occasions to purchase services and/or products. I've taken my dog to another vet and she's happy and healthy and it's not breaking the bank! I thought convenience (proximity to my home) was worth going to Tierrasanta vet - I was wrong! more

Don't Go!!! 7/22/2010

My blood is boiling right now. I took my dog here because he was experiencing some type of allergic reaction and developed a "hotspot" by his tail. I was a little put off by Dr. Luke's personality, but shrugged it off. I was SHOCKED when her vet tech came in after Dr. Luke checked him over and gave me a list of services, medications, and tests for my dog that totaled OVER $1,400!!! Granted, if I dog had cancer or was hurt or had some sort of disease, I would perhaps consider paying this much money, but this was a spot on his skin that was clearly from allergies. I should have known this was a racket when on the new patient forms they asked for my social security number, drivers license number, BANK ACCOUNT numbers, and credit cards! Huh?\r \r When I asked the tech to explain the charges to me, she could barely explain what the medications were and what they were for (I think she actually said, "I don't know..." when I asked what one of them was for and what the difference was between med more

Thank you Dr. Luke 6/12/2010

I just adopted a cat from Animal Control and my poor baby had a really bad upper respiratory infection. Pneumonia to be exact and Dr. Luke wanted to hospitalize but I couldn't do that so she worked with me and came up with a solution for me to do most of the work to help my new addition to my family. I'm glad to report that my cat is doing much better and I truly thank Dr. Luke and her staff for helping me and my cat. I was going to take my cat back to Animal Control. more

Tierrasanta veterinary will wow you! 10/5/2009

I have used various veterinarians around san diego but this one is best. They helped me care for my whole pet and not just bits and pieces. I brought my kitten in for vaccines and they found she had ear mites. The showed them to me under a microscope. Yuck, how ugly. If they had done just the vaccines I asked for, my kitten would be suffering with her ears itching like crazy and who knows what she might have done to herself. Thanks Dr. Luke. more

the best 4/14/2009

Im sorry but if people are complaining about the price then maybe you need to rethink owning an animal....are you going to do the same thing if this was your child and well the brain surgery is just to much and go else where? to most people there animals are there children like my boxer is to me. I love Dr.Luke she is great she treated my pup so well and i will not take her any where else. more
