Best

We traveled to Boston this past weekend, and Tia's was our favorite place that we dined at. We came here for Mother's Day and were very impressed with the specials and the quality...

Worst

TIa's is a nice place but completely overrated. not worth the time or the money

Awful Service 10/13/2005

I was in town (yes, a tourist) and my friends in Boston highly touted Tia's for drinks and dinner. We had the worst service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. The restaurant was dead and we were her only table: I not only had to approach the bartender for water but also our drink order. The food was poorly prepared and cold when it arrived to our table. Just a terrible experience. Cons: SERVICE more

My Favorite Bar in Summer 7/30/2004

This is my favorite bar in the summer. The summer only lasts so long so I like to be outside as much as possible when the weather permits. This bar has great drinks, great views, and a great crowd (especially after work). Whenever someone new comes into town to visit this is the first place that comes to mind. This is what Boston is all about. Pros: drinks are plenty, great crowd, great scenery more

dakilla 7/29/2004

meathead stockbrokers flexing for the ladies while swilling Mich Ultra out of plastic cups served by bigger meathead bartenders who somehow couldn't get into the stock biz. Ugly environment! more

Gotta have the stuffed lobster! 6/23/2004

Our experience at Tia's was quite pleasant, the food was excellent, quite possibly the best stuffed lobster I've ever had, and being from the Caribbean, I've had lots! We were seated promptly, and although service was just average, the ambiance was quite pleasant. I'm going back soon! Pros: Stuffed Lobster, Ambiance, Outdoor Seating more

TIAS IS THE WORST 8/6/2003

That was the worst food and bar experience that I have ever encountered. Overpriced slop!!! This place sucks!! Pros: NONE, NONE, NONE Cons: POOR FOOD, EXPENSIVE, RUDE STAFF more

Tia's: Avoid at all costs 6/26/2003

Went there for dinner last night. 1. Overpriced drinks (8$ for a beer) 2. Food stunk (The Calarmari app. was cold and not as advertised on the menu) 3. Seating (they tried to put 8 people at a 4top next to us, essentially forcing us to move so that we weren't being sat upon by the 4-too-many people next door) 4. Service (slow, lackluster, inattentive, only chatted with us when serving the bill [for tip purposes probably]) 5. Atmosphere (crowded and overly trying to be trendy) I recommend everyone avoid Tia's unless they go through a major revision. Pros: Near the water Cons: Food, Service, Atmosphere more

overrated 12/26/2002

TIa's is a nice place but completely overrated. not worth the time or the money more

Completely agree... 12/14/2002

I completely agree w/the rating on Tia's, have only been a couple of times & obviously it is best enjoyed in the summertime, when you can really appreciate the scenery, water & people ;-) Pros: Great views, great drinks Cons: small, mess up ladies hair more

Cheesey on the Waterfront! 12/13/2002

This place is for the just turned 21 crowd. Filled with cheesey girls and guys especially Wednesdays and Thursdays in the summer. The drinks are overpriced and the food isn't that great. Definitely not worth the expenses!!!!! Pros: fun location, indoor/outdoor bar, summer atmosphere Cons: pricey drinks, cheesey crowd, overly crowded more

21st Bday Started 8/21/2002

We started the night at Tia's. Had an awesome waitress named Amy. 12-14 people just hanging out having drinks for like 2 hours from like 10pm-12 on a beautiful august night outdoors --- can't beat that. Pros: service, outdoors, fun Cons: little expensive, tough to find more

fun, outdoors bar 8/13/2002

Very crowded and the drinks are a little pricey, but Tia's is a fun after-work bar on the water, great place for singles. more

Overrated 8/8/2002

This place sucks. The only reason it has a good rep is because it occasionally gets a few hotties after work on Thursday. C'mon, you can't even see the water and you spend the entire time moving out of the ever passing crowd's way. more

Anything but Water 7/23/2002

Great Bar with friendly staff. Creative and entertaining bartenders who can serve up what you want even if you don't know what it is. The menu is varied enough to be interesting, and the food is good with decenet sized portions. The prices are a little high, but this is where Boston hangs out. Pros: Good Food, Great Staff Cons: No Parking, Fairly Expensive more

Trendy Seaside Outdoor Bar 7/18/2002

Great outdoor setting, full of young, single, well-dressed, just-graduated, individuals. Great atmosphere on a summer night. Very hip...no loud music. Very friendly people. No cover. Pros: no cover, crowded Cons: expensive drinks, hard to park more

Hot summer fun 7/2/2002

This place is good for a hot summers night. It's an open-air bar with a small inside. It is based in the mariott long warf hotel, on the side facing the north end. It has good prices ($4 for beer and $5-$6 for mixed) If you like ladies in next to nothing, this is the place to go in the summer. Lots of girls bring many drunk guys though. Lots of the ""I like to think I'm cool"" types here. But many down to earth folk as well who usually end up being the closing crowd. Good service, always a full drink, and friendly wait staff. Tip well or they won't come back for a while. $1 a beer is nice. This is the place to go to beat the heat, and is close to many other cool places to hang out!! Pros: Half naked women, Location, Unique to Boston Cons: Crowds, half snobs, Small bathrooms more

Frat Party 6/5/2002

I moved to Boston from LA, and nevertheless succeeded in finding a place that epitomizes everything I hate about California. This place is a cheesy scene to end all cheesy scenes. Not sure I've ever seen more snotty girls and meatheads in my life. To add insult to injury, the food's lack luster. The whole experience gave me flashbacks of bad fraternity date events. Thank God I'm not single if this is what it's come to. Pros: The exit, I'm not single Cons: Crowded, Cheesy more

Outdoor patio 5/14/2002

We love Tia's on Thursday in the summer. It gets quite crowded in the evening, but if you get here early enough (by 5:30pm) you can usually grab a table. Pros: view Cons: too crowded more

"The waterfront view is certainly terrific, but that's not what draw's singles to Tia's, open April through October. Every year, Tia's makes good on their reputation as the best summer pickup scene in Boston. It's hot and crowded in all the right ways.(857) 400-7787"

Editorial
  • The Scene
Most nights at Tia's are calm, pretty and prime for people-watching. The after-work crowd drinks in both the waterfront view and a cocktail (or eight); young moms from suburbia...
