Greatly missed 3/9/2009

Went to this gem since it opened; NEVER a dissapoining meal. Shelly and staff always delivered more than expected. Sadly they closed this winter. I only hope they surface somewhere else and we'll be there in a heartbeat. I have no idea what the 1 star revieweer experienced as it is NOT indicitive of the Babaluci I know. Shelly if you read this Bob more

Regulars at Babaluci 10/2/2008

Who better to tell what an experience a Babaluci is like than a regular. This is our neighborhood restaurant and whenever my husband and I wish to spend a special evening together, this is where we go. Perhaps 6 times per month. The pasta is fresh, sauces exquisite and seafood and meat outstanding. Of course there are some off days with servers being over extended to handle an unexpected crowd, but how many family owned restaurants do you know of these days that work with the situation. Go to your Olive Garden or Magianos if you want the everyday regulated expected meal provided by chain restaurants. But go to Babaluci if you want the old fasioned, welcoming meal freshly made, neighborhood restaurant with warm friendly people. Take my word for it, it IS a gem. But don't tell too many people. It will get too crowded for me to get my favorite table. Pros: Freshly made non-chain food Cons: Can become too crowde. I can't get my favorite table. more

Heart broken in Hoffman Estates 2/16/2008

I took my family to Babaluci?s and, I had hoped it would be that rare find in my neighborhood one that I could write to Check Please! about. Sadly we ended up getting mugged by this so-called restaurant.\r \r The food was so disappointing and to pay what we paid for it I felt ripped off. The Pasta Josephine was a let down with very little sausage or sauce the words dry and pasty come to mind. My wife had the bland Seafood Risotto with overcooked and shriveled mussels did I mention that it was bland. The Seafood Risotto was also supposed to have lobster but the lobster turned out to be MIA in her dish. My children had two personal pizzas, which were much larger than your typical personal pizza. It would have been nice of our server to let us know that one pizza would have been enough for our two little children. The pizza was actually ok so that turned out to be the highlight of the meal.\r \r You know you would have thought the server would have gotten a hint that we did not like the food when we pointed out the nonexistent shriveled mussels and, when I did not finish my Pasta Josephine and declined to have it boxed to take home. When the server asked if we wanted dessert we declined and decided it would be to get our desert from Jewel food store. As angry as I am for paying for cr*p I had really wanted this to be a place to write very well of but, instead we will never go back.\r \r Out of five stars I give it a run like hell to another restaurant!\r \r One more note: I have seen the other reviews I?m not sure who is writing them but I do wish we had the experience the previous reviewers had. Makes me wonder if they are real reviews or, if Babaluci has gone down hill in a dramatic fashion. Cons: To many to list on our visit more

Have never been disapointed here. 1/25/2008

My wife and I go here for a great night out. In the suburbs we are surrounded by franchise restaurant mills. Babaluci is an culinary oasis. They treat you well. If you don't see it one the menu, just ask and they will gladly accommodate your palate. more
