Great wine, innovative place 7/18/2008

Need I say more... This little charmer has brought a small township (which often has an inflated sense of self-yes, LO) one of the warmest, unpretentious businesses in Lake O. The owners and staff are friendly and knowledgeable about wine and make you feel at home in this one of a kind wine bar. You will love that they offer many pours from the local producers, as well as international favorites! It is relaxing, inviting and they appear to have acheived much success. We were pleasantly surprised when they showed up on our passport membership. Now, we have more reason to try their fun food menu to accompany many a wine glasses. Thanks for bringing some much needed ""humanism"" to Lake Oswego and the local wine community. Recommendation to the business, keep adding more local wines: with the economy in the state it is, most of us prefer to support our local business. thanks for the great times and wines! more

Cute with a Capital ""C"" 6/16/2008

This place is so cozy and fun. The staff is super friendly and you feel like you are in your home when you are here. I have met the owners twice and they are really nice people who genuinely care about wine, service and the people of LO. The wine list is great and the food is filling for those not looking for huge meals or a grilled steak. The cheese fondue is delicious here - best I have had in Portland. The only slight 'nit' I have for this place is that from time to time they close earlier than the posted time. But I have noticed many LO restaurants do the same and I guess we residents should frequent them all more often so they have steady business, especially independently owned (non-chain) places like Thirst, Genia's and Tucci's! Pros: Decor, Wine List, Staff Cons: Sometimes close before posted time - call! more

Quaint, great wine selection and friendly service 3/17/2008

I adore wine, everything about it. Thirst has created a missing link in LO. We had a wine bar here and there, but they didn't stick around. Then we have restaurants that also try to foot that bill, but either make lousy food and have great wine or good food and not so nice selection. Thirst has both. If you are looking for a 7 course meal, this is not your place. But for a light meal, something to fill the gap to enhance your wine tasting experience they offer a great assortment of cheeses, olives, bread, salads and small plates that are delicious! I also love that they offer retail sales, for the bottles you can't go home without. If I could provide a bit of constructive criticism: a bit larger space would be wonderful, as it can get a bit cramped on tasting nights. Welcome to the neighborhood! Pros: Wine list is fun and ever changing with special focus on old world and PNW. Delicious! Cons: Small space, crowded. Slow-ish service when really busy. more

Great cozy space-loved it 10/3/2007

I took a date to this wine bar for the first time last night for the $15 three cheese and 3 wines tasting and it was fantastic. I really enjoyed the wines, which were perfectly paired with three lovely wedges of cheese and some crusty bread. Tuesday nights are a steal, but the menu was reasonable any night, and had food that was perfect to pair with wine. The service was friendly as well. The only con is that it is hard to find on a dark night. I drove by it twice and then just had to get out and walk around until I found it-but I am so glad that I did. They are adressing this with a new sign with better lighting, but even without the sign, it is worth seeking this place out. What a nice little wine bar with the tastiest cheese plates and food. Pros: Great local wines and local cheese Cons: hard to find a night more

Yes, finally a good wine bar in LO! 8/24/2007

We've been waiting for a a place like this for a long time. Great local wines, friendly staff, exvcellent food and an adorable, comfortable space. Thirst is definitley what LO needed to round out the expanding selection of dining establishments. It is so nice to have the ability to share and munch on different foods versus each of us getting our own big meal. The wine selection is great and the owner said they will be rotating it a lot, so it will be fun to try new stuff. The place is not huge and fills up fast, so you may want to call and make a reservation. Best for us is that we can walk there - so, welcome Thirst, you will be seeing a lot of us!! Pros: Wines, cozy decor, friendly staff Cons: Can fill up fast more

A nice addition! 8/23/2007

Thirst has been so far a welcome addition to LO. Cute place, not so gret decor, but they tried you can tell. So far,, not a huge selection of wines, especially whites. Owners seem to be knowledgable of their wines and friendly......they seem a little nervous though. But all in all, a nice change from the mall restuarants. Thank God!!! Pros: Good cheese tray Cons: Decor could be way better more
