Best

Romantic!!! Great date night place or anniversary. The Seared Ahi Tuna and Filet were amazing. I think the patio room is the best area for dinner. Our server David was outstanding...

Worst

My husband and I had our 41st wedding anniversary dinner at the Vineyards. The ambiance was disappointing , mini Xmas lights hanging from the ceiling, expected a candle or a flowe...

Entree's were very good, desert left a alot to be desired but a lovely evening out, all in all. 11/15/2006

It was good, two of us had the portabella lasagna, which was delicious. One had a shrimp and scallop over pasta and the fourth had a choice cut steak and jumbo shrimp (chef special). The entree?s were very good. We shared a bottle of flying Fish Merlot, which was subtle, and accompanied the meals well enough. For dessert, we shared had their decadent chocolate ?something or rather? and it was rich but very good. Another ordered their chocolate pecan pie. The filling was wonderful, but the crust made the pie inedible? tough like plastic and completely tasteless? he sent it back and ordered the decadent chocolate dessert. Coffee was standard, nothing to write home about. The waitress was ok, but considering that until we had our entree?s, she only had our table to serve, she was a little too rushed for us? offering desert before one person at the table had finished his entree?.. etc. Pros: Beautiful ambiance, entrees were good and attractive Cons: Service was too rushed for a restaurant claiming "an experience" rather than a quick meal. more

LOVE THE PLACE 6/29/2006

excellent food ! Love the Greer family !! all the way from Maine ! Pros: ambience excellent, great friendly service Cons: there needs to be one in Maine more

A Great Place To Get Married 1/10/2006

When my husband and I were looking for a place to get married (second marriage, blended families, out-of-towners, the "works"), The Vineyards was recommended to us. They did not disappoint. We had a small (25) but quite eclectic group which ranged in age from 8 to 83. We had some very specific needs to address (elderly moms who required assistance) which the staff ably handled. The staff also enabled us to be "creative" with our outdoor ceremony and with the dinner that followed in the wine cellar. The entire evening was perfect, thanks to a professional and knowledgeable staff. And the food? Excellent in every way, right down to the delicious and beautifully arranged Vegan platter the chef created for my son. His comment? Nicer than many he's been served in NYC. Pros: food, service, professionalism more

A hidden treasure! 10/27/2005

We are new to the San Antonio area after a some research we came across great reviews for the Vineyard. So, on a date after 5 years of marriage we headed to the country to find The Vineyard. We walked in and we were a little concerned because we thought it was a significantly older crowd but once we made our way downstairs to the wine room our impression changed. The wait staff was young and lively. The wines were excellent, the food was superb, and the after dinner drinks and dessert were . . . wow! We were shocked that after appetizers, many glasses of wine, two steak dinners, dessert and after dinner drinks our bill was still less than $150.00. You can't beat that! Try doing that at Ruth Chris or Mortons! We will be heading back to the Vineyard soon! more

Unique and Charming 6/28/2005

Great place to have a romantic evening. We lived out of state for three years and everytime we were in town we made the drive over to The Vineyards. We are never disappointed. We have great service and great food every time we go. It is best to have reservations due to the weddings they have, but we have never had a problem getting one. Pros: View, Service, Food more

A Very Bad Experience 6/26/2005

My boyfriend and I went to the Vineyards expecting an evening surrounded by a romantic ambiance. Instead, we were greeted at the door and a minute later, were refused service simply because we had failed to make a reservation. Although I can understand the need for a reservation, I was surprised they refused us because the restaurant was completely empty! Why did we need a reservation, when there were clearly several tables available? The gentleman gave us a paper menu for us to take home and proceeded to show us to the door. Talk about adding insult to injury. The rude refusal of service wasnt worth the long drive out of sa. more

A Wonderful Surprise 4/5/2005

What a treat! What a wonderful surprise! Nesteled in the hills, north of San Antonio is the neatest restaurant. The food was great, as was the service. It's a very special place that made us feel very welcome and pampered. We can't wait to go again and again. more

It's an ALWAYS when we visit S.A.!!!! 3/19/2005

I have now had the pleasure of being at The Vineyards several times!!! Everytime we come to San Antonio, we will ALWAYS go to The Vinyards!! We are from Nashville, and have had SEVERAL people tell us this is the place to go for great food, awesome ambiance and fabulous service! I have had the best filet, the best ceasar salad, and ALL the appitizers are to die for!!! All those who don't know great steaks, romantic dining or special occasion places - LOOK AGAIN! The Vinyards ROCKS!! Pros: awesome food, ambiance, romantic more

BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! 3/18/2005

From the scenic drive to the wonderful dessert, our experiece was like no other. What a find! We had heard of the Vineyards from friends and how beautiful it was. We were surprised that our experience had exceeded our expectations. I'd highly recommend the Vineyards for a romantic evening or fine wine and dining. We sat down stairs in the cellar which was cozy with antique wine bottles lining the walls. We ordered the Lamb and the prime rib. Both were absolutely delicious! After the Tiramisu dessert we enjoyed a glass of Port wine by the fountain outside. Lovely! Pros: Great service, great food, ambience more

You have to go here 3/11/2005

We went for dinner and wow--- it was great. Everything from the food to the atmosphere was great. We had the Sister Creek wine and it was awsome!!! After we ate we went down to the vineyards. It was very romantic. I have to say this was my best dinning experience ever. We called and made reservation but none was needed. When we got to the restaurant they remebered are names. Pros: romantic, great food, great service Cons: its in San Antonio more

The Best Little Restaurant in Texas 8/24/2003

My husband and I just had dinner at The Vineyards at Garden Ridge and...WOW! The filet (special) was seasoned and cooked perfectly, peppered and seared just the right amount and oh, so tender. I devoured my garlic mashed potatoes (awesome)!! He had the mahi mahi & it was cooked perfectly as well. It's so beautiful inside; warm & charming, hardwood floors, candlelight - very romantic & inviting. GREAT service! The wine list was terrific, with many hard-to-find selections. We sat on the pretty patio overlooking the vineyard & next time we plan to try wine cellar near the fireplace. It took about 15 minutes to get there from 1604/281, but the scenic drive through the hill country gave us a chance to unwind from our busy day before and after dinner. Try it - you won't be disappointed!! Pros: Romantic, Excellent Service, Delicious Food & Wine more

superb 11/14/2002

dining in an intimate setting especially the cellar Pros: good food, good wines, good service Cons: distance, selection, cost (once a year) more

A Romantic Dining Experience 8/20/2002

The Vineyards Restaurant is so completely romantic to take your sweetheart for the perfect date. They provide an exquiste menu, complete with an excellent wine list. After dinner, a quiet and beautiful walk in the moonlit vineyard, will sweep off the feet of your loved one. more

Mellowly Eclectic Dining 8/12/2002

We've dined at many fine restaurants, but have found none more deserving of return visits than the Vineyards. Every experience has been absolutely enjoyable and we frequently entertain out of town visitors at this wonderful establishment. The food preparation is fabulous, the waitstaff always courteous, unassuming and only priestly present, the atmosphere is casually mellow and romantic (just the way we like it!) ... and, the wine selection ... well, what do you expect in a vineyard??! Don't miss this opportunity for an extremely pleasant evening! Pros: Food quality, Ambiance, Service more

Simply put, better than all the rest. 7/24/2002

I've been to most all of the other restraunts in town. The much hyped (and overrated one's such as The Palm), the out of the way one's, the classics, and the national chains. None of them measure up to The Vineyards. It may be a bit of a drive, but it is worth the trip. If you make a price to quality comparison, none of the other restraunts in or around San Antonio have a chance. And, even when you compare The Vineyards to more expensive competition, it is still significantly better. Pros: Great Service, Superb food quality, Excellent staff Cons: Distance from SA, Reservations needed more
