It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Travelled to see a football match and stayed here 3 days. Staff very welcoming and very helpful. Rooms spacious with plenty of wardrobe space and a nice bathroom. Rooms cleaned daily. Hotel near bus routes into town etc. which was very convenient. Would not hesitate staying here again. Retail park next door with Trader Joe's, hairdressers etc. more

I travel from northern mi to WV a few times per year. It's a 12 hour drive and I usually stay overnight each way. I just happened to stumble on to this place about 3 years ago. It's an old place but very well maintained, clean and everything works including the wifi. There's a small shopping center next door with a Trader Joes so I can get some deli food and a bottle of wine and not have to get back in the car after an 8 hour drive.\r The folks at the desk are always very nice and there's a simple breakfast set up in the am. The price is about half of a holiday inn express. I get so tired of the overpriced franchise places. It's nothing fancy but I think most folks would be fine staying here. more

comfortable bed and good air conditioning more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/18/2016

It was a comfortable room where we needed it and at an attractive price. The beds were super. We thought it was quiet for a city setting and we felt safe. The staff were friendly. We would stay there again. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/13/2016

It is two miles from the University of Michigan, which is walking distance for me. It is a very pleasant walk through a mainly residential area. If you don't enjoy walking you can catch the bus. We will definitely stay there again. more

I was looking for a place to stay that would be in close proximity to the Whole foods Market, Trader Joe's, the Vitamin shoppe and the Ann arbor Downtown Area. I found it all at the Lamp Post inn, located on Stadium right at he Stadium and Washtenaw Ave. divide.\r \r I also was looking for a place to stay where there might be a nature preserve or running trail within in walking (running) distance.\r \r The County Farm Park system is @ one quarter of a mile from the Inn and has running trails and much more.\r \r The Inn is an exceptionally clean, historic hotel. The owner and the staff are more than welcoming and accommodating to any needs.\r \r I would highly recommend this as the go to place in Ann Arbor, Michigan.\r \r Many thanks to you for my great stay!! more

First this is no longer called the ""Lamp Post Inn"" but the ""University inn."" Desk check In was courteous and helpful. Room is a little small yet, clean with many amenities including microwave, fridge. Bathroom was small yet clean, in good repair, and doable. Owner allowed to park car on grounds due to an afternoon game on Saturday. as my checkout was Saturday at 11am. The U of M stadium is about 2.5 miles away. Can walk to the stadium yet there are several ""modes"" of transportation available. The owner was a great help. She gave us free bottles of water as their soda pop machine was out of soda pop. Highly recommend this motel when traveling in the Ann Arbor area and need a place to stay for a night. more

This is not the nicest place ever, but it's a reliable and safe place to stay in Ann Arbor. It's not directly on campus, but is not that far either. If pressed, you could walk.\r \r The staff was very polite and nice, and the rooms were clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. more

Great location and our room was clean and comfortable, all right for an older place. Staff was very friendly and helpful. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/6/2016

Comfortable hotel with easy access to the university and area sights. Beds were comfortable and good value for area. Light breakfast included. Ask for renovated room. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/29/2016

The hotel was going through a name change and renovations. The sign was not easy to find as the new name (University Inn) was lit-up and the ""Lamp Post"" hand written sign was taped below the tree line. The location to campus is excellent. Upon arrival the clerk was friendly and prepared for our late check-in. In the morning breakfast was served on time more

Having business relating to the University in Ann Arbor, my 1st visit, I made a random pick based on location and price and came up trumps with the Lucky Lamp. In style it was a typical retro motel you might see in the movies, I expected Richard Gere to walk out of one of the rooms at any moment! Non retro was the renovation to a high class finish and my room was clean, warm, and cozy with crispy bed linen which always makes you feel good after a difficult day. Being from Ireland we think we have the market on hospitality cornered, but you won't find friendlier than the ladies working on the front desk. I hope when they see this they will forgive me forgetting their names but they directed me to nearby excellent restaurants, shopping, bus transport across the road and more than that made someone a long way from home feel at home. Yeah, I recommend it! more

I had a Dr. Appointment the next day at U Of M hospital and didn't know the weather conditions so I was being safe. The room was very nice and the staff was really helpful and the breakfast was simple but it was nice and filling. more

Room was incredibly clean. Really cool experience, I felt like I was in a little heartbeat of Ann Arbor. Staff was friendly. Stayed one night as a downtown visit trip, Uber'd to and from the inn very easily. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/16/2016

From the check-in and the nice gals at the desk to the newly renovated, clean room--we were happy with our choice of the Lamp Post Inn. The beds were super comfy. The one drawback would be the lack of water pressure in the shower, but perhaps it was just our room. We will be back. more

Great Location 4/23/2012

If you need to be near the University or the Hospital this is a great location - especially for the price. more

Great Hotel BUT... 2/7/2011

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there! more

a great bargain 4/28/2010

Well maintained but obviously used. It was clean and quiet. The mattress was firm. Pros: kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, on bus route to downtown more

Need Updating 1/18/2009

The room here was fairly small and the bed seemed a few decades old. My rooms bathroom looked out over a walkway and the window didn't seem to have any sort of insulation. I stayed here in January and when I woke up in the morning to go to the bathroom I thought I was going to get frostbite. The breakfast they provided was very satisfactory and the staff were very kind. I arrived at 2:30a.m. and they were able to insure that I got into my room. Would stay here again if for one or two nights and traveling alone. more
