My wife and daughter went to the swallow at the hollow as it was advertised on a PBS special about BBQ's. The atmosphere was ok, more like an old joint or honkytonk. We ordered a full portion
of ribs for my wife and I ordered a BBQ plate of pulled pork, our sides were fried green tomatoes and macaroni and cheese for me and my wife ordered F.F. and brunswick stew. It is a sad state of affairs when the side orders are better than the BBQ, but that was the case. The Mac and cheese was very good, the fried green tomatoes were greasy but cooked and hot, but I could have greased my car with the amount of oil that came with that order, the F.F. were over done, the brunswick stew was hot and tasty, the ribs were cold, and the pork was cold, over all the food at Sonny's BBQ was 100% better than the swallows. All in all I would not eat there again. The salads did look good, and it seems many people were ordering them, maybe thats what we should have done. Make no mistake about it, this is not a high quality restaurant if your looking for good BBQ. I guess if you knock back a few brew's most anything could taste good. I would avoid this place at all costs. I'm going to try Starbury's next time, but that is supposed to be good too, ugh, I hope so. I am a BBQ expert to a great extent, and this ain't it.
Pros: Seems to be tailored for music lovers and folks who like to down a couple of cold brews
Cons: looks dirty, the bathrooms have an ambience all their own
