Gilded Gangster Haunt Serves up Fab Brunch 12/26/2009

Opulent brunch experience. Could have done without the piano playing (a personal choice), but interesting to dine in Al Capone's old haunt. Beautiful ambience and an insane number of Southern and classic dishes from which to choose. My kids couldn't get enough of the "dessert" section of the buffet. more

This is a beautiful place. 1/7/2009

We had breakfast here and it was fabulous. The service was fantastic and food was wonderful. The prices are fair with the given area and location. I would highly recommend staying over at the Seelbach and having a beautiful breakfast. more

WAY Overated 1/25/2007

Don't waste your time, there are too many good restaurants in Louisville.\r It is way pricey for what you get and service is lacking.\r Head to Club Grotto instead more

Dissapointment 9/16/2005

I had heard nice reviews about this place, but it is way too old and outdated for my taste. The hallways all smelled of smoke. It felt very dirty. Did the staff have training when they joined up there? The only thing I was told by the staff is that Al Capone stayed there. Oh joy. I am supposed to be impressed? They had a convention or something there and it seemed no organization was in place. They put them in front of the other guests. Everything seemed to smell so old and musty--especially when they showed me the "dungeon" downstairs. Scary place more

5 Star hotel 9/7/2005

The Seelbach has been a Louisville landmark for years. Not only is it a beautiful hotel, it is steeped in history and grandeur. I have heard that it has accommodated the rich and famous to the infamous. I had the pleasure of staying there for a night and it was a great experience. Since it is a Five Star hotel, it is a bit expensive. But if you are looking for the best, this is it in Louisville. more

Horrible experience 5/31/2004

I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life here. They stuck me in a smoking room even though I had reserved a non-smoking room. But, even worse, they forced us to check out early, at 9am. We were staying in the hotel so my fiance could get a good night's sleep and prepare for nearby interviews. Our experience didn't help her prepare. The rooms are pathetically small too.
