The Salvation Army Thrift Store & Donation Center

Do not donate your items to this store! The store manager lacks loyalty and honesty. On May 5, 2011, I went into the store, showed interest in two chairs. I paid cash for one chair and had to go to the bank to get cash for second chair. The manager mentioned that he would hold the chair and allow me time to go to bank. When I returned, the chair had a sold sign attached. I expressed my concerns… (I drove 20 minutes, picked up my credit card, withdrew money and returned to store within 20 minutes. The cashier was very rude. He stated that, the chair had been sold and there was nothing he could do. I remained in the store until closing and the chair was never picked up. I believe one of the employees (manager) was interested in the chair. The Salvation Army is a non-profit organization. Items are donated and sold for a profit. Many of the valuable or designer items are taken by employees and never placed on the floor or sold to a family member, friend, etc….. I am very upset and will never shop at The Dover Salvation Army store again. more

This is a good thrift store. Prices are pretty good on clothes - very good on furniture. \r If you are in a poverty situation and need assistance you can speak to Captain Nester at the Salvation Army church about working with you on the prices . For example if you are in need of furniture and cannot afford it , you can speak to him about a voucher for an item. You may need to bring some documentation of your income . Pros: good amount of clothes and furniture Cons: there are no toys or children's items more

Dover Salvation Army ROCKS-AWESOME selection of just about everything-at least 75% of my family's wardrobe comes from this store! Their Tshirt selection is one of the HUGEST....The shoe selection is notably superior, I've gotten tons of doc martens, BCBG, rocketdog , Fluevog, etc etc....my best all time finds from Dover? 7 for all mankind jeans (10$), a tshirt from Clinton's 1992 inaugaration, original NORML t-shirt....tons of cool stuff I either wear w/ pride or make some change on eBay from....Highly recommended! Pros: HUGE variety, selection, NAOMI!!!! Cons: tad bit on the pricey side - thrift store-wise speaking more
