Pros: Access to 3 clubs Cons: Cocktail server

Food Average, Service Great 4/1/2010

I have been to Red Room a few times, but the latest visit was the first time we had ordered food. Beautiful evening, so sat outside - able to get our ""people watching"" on. Overall, a decent atmosphere. They had some sangria specials, but we stuck to beer and wine - which was fine. Our server was excellent - returned with the right frequency, knew the menu and specials well and just seemed on top of it. Pros: Decent drink selection, atmosphere, outdoor seating Cons: Food just wasn't very good more

Great food and serive on several occasions 3/7/2010

My husband and I have visited Red Room on a number of occasions, sometimes with a group but mostly just the two of us. Each time we've been, we've ordered exclusively from the tapas menu and been extremely pleased with the portion sizes and flavor of the food. Our waitresses have always been knowledgeable and friendly. My bachelorette party was also held at Red Room and we were seated at the couches, where we had a wonderful time. We also ordered a seafood paella and were THRILLED with it. It's a very large pan, which is also meant to share. Unfortunately, we ordered way too much food for 2 days before a wedding! I would suggest the papas brava and the steak churrasco, as they were hands-down favorites of everyone we have taken over the past several months. I'm a personal fan of the mushroom empanada, and my husband really likes the hummus. If you've never experienced tapas, go on Monday when their tapas menu is half-priced. Pros: Awesome food, courteous waitstaff Cons: ...can't think of any more

Pretty Good 1/11/2010

Food, and service was pretty good. After 11 pm you might want to head somewhere else. Pretty rough crowd. Pros: Food is Good and the Crowd is nice Cons: Crowd gets alittle >>>>>> After 11pm more

Best place on Glenwood 11/22/2009

I love this place, great atmosphere, excellent tapas, and a nice patio. The spinach and feta dip is certianly the best I've ever had....you must try it! their waitstaff is hit or miss.....weekend crowd can get in the way of a nice dinner, but this shouldn't deter a visit! Pros: Excellent Spinach and Feta Dip Cons: weekends more

Great environment, helpful service 10/15/2009

I recently went to the Red Room for the first time and was absolutely charmed by the place. I loved the whole idea of the tapas lounge and the ambiance that accompanied it to fit the downtown night scene. When I was having trouble picking from the list of mostly Spanish wines, our waitress spoke with us for several minutes before recommending the perfect bottle for our table. We will definitely be back soon! Pros: Service, Ambiance more

Best patio in Raleigh, love the food 9/21/2009

My friends and I recently went to the Red Room. The restaurant/bar is a very cool lounge and nightspot whose Spanish twist brings a posh, yet eclectic feel to it. It was nice out, so we sit on the side patio that is right alongside Glenwood Avenue and shared some good wine and delicious tapas. It?s the perfect place to hang out and have a light meal/snack and a couple of drinks, and be a part of a different environment than your typical college bar scene. The servers were very friendly and helpful when it comes to suggesting food and drinks, as not everyone is familiar with the concept of tapas. Oh, and the sangria is amazing! Pros: Sangria, patio, great tapas more

Even better than before! 3/26/2009

Love the atmosphere here. Great decor and music. Service is top-notch. Recently they went 100% smoke-free, even in the bar...major plus! Food is very tasty...Spanish-inspired food but creative with various flavors from all over. Never had a bland meal here, and it seems they keep getting better. Price-wise, it depends what you order. For a table of two, we got a shrimp ceviche appetizer, shared a big tasty goat cheese salad, and then split a half-pan of veggie paella....all for under $35 for the two of us, and we left too-full for dessert! Drinks are pricy though...so that will definitely raise your tab. But it may just be worth it...the blueberry-lemon sangria is the best I've ever had. Pros: Tasty food, good menu choices, veg-friendly, tasty ceviche Cons: drinks are pricy more

Rude Staff 3/10/2009

I have been to the Red Room before and have never had a problem. I guess that is because I have never ordered a drink before, usually being the ""DD"". I understand that the bartenders are busy but they can still be friendly. I ordered my first drink and everything was fine. I go to the bar to order my second drink ( the same drink as last time) and I am charged a totally different amount (a higher amount). I tell the bartender that it is different and just happen to have kept my receipt from the last drink and show her. She tells me that the other girl must have charged me the wrong price and that she was charging me the right one. I tell her that she needs to explain to me further why they are different before i pay her more for the same drink. She huffs and jerks my card out of my hand and goes just don't worry about it I will change it! Changes the amount to the same amount as before and gives me my new receipt without saying a word to me and giving me this evil look. I say whatever and let it go because I think I have the correct amount charged to my card now. I go to look at my bank statement a few days later and I have not only been charged the argued amount but also the amount she was supposed to change it to! So i got screwed basically. I cannot get in touch with management so that I can speak with someone about this so I guess I will just eat this one. Needless to say I won't be back and will not recommend to anyone. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking to try some place new! 12/22/2008

My girlfriends and I decided to try Red Room Tapas Lounge last week. Once we got there we wondered why we had waited so long to try it. We had a great experience ? their tapas was amazing and really reasonably priced. I have to say their signature sangria was hands down the best I have ever had. The wait staff was helpful and polite. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking to try some place new! Pros: Sangria, great wait staff more

Beautiful Restaurant 11/24/2008

Even if the food was terrible and the service was awful, I would still probably love this place just for the decor! As soon as you walk in, you just have to take a second to look around at how cool this place is. But decorations aside, this is still a REALLY great place for a night out on the town. I went there the other night and had the delicious swordfish, something I haven?t seen on many menus in Raleigh. Service was so polite and quick, food was really good, and atmosphere was enthralling. I really recommend this place! Pros: Atmosphere, Unique Menu, Service more

Great Night RUINED by Cocktail Server 11/24/2008

Pros: Access to 3 clubs Cons: Cocktail server more

Not so in love anymore 11/21/2008

Some of the staff is amazing and kind. Others are rude and vindictive. I've been to Red Room both as a diner and as a club hopper. I've gone regularly for almost 3 years, and literally spent thousands there. Pros: Food, atmosphere, management and some staff Cons: Newer staff, cocktail girls, pricey more

Great food, but not so great deal 11/18/2008

We went to Red Room b/c we had a coupon for buy two tapas plates, get two free. However, when it came time to pay, we were informed we couldn't use our coupon and get the drink special- half off a bottle of wine. We had informed our waitress of our coupon as soon as we sat down and she didn't mention that it wouldn't work with the drink special. We never would have ordered a $26 bottle of wine if we had known! We have used these coupons at dozens of restaurants around Raleigh and never been told that we can't use it and take advantage of their ""drink"" special as well. It's like telling us that we have to choose between $2 drafts or our coupon, or half price sangria or our coupon. I understand if we were combining it with a ""food special"", but drinks? Come on Red Room, are you that hard up? Pros: delicious tapas, trendy atmosphere Cons: poorly run management more

$3.00 for a CUP of WATER! 10/13/2008

We had a great time there this weekend. Music, crowd, service, and drinks were great- no complaints! however, it really ruined it all when they charged $3.00 for cup of water that comes straight out of the tap! I just cant get into that. I think that is very poor customer service, especially when our party spent well over $500.00 there that night. more

DJ set a great mood 9/18/2008

My fiance and I went here for a fun night out last Friday, and we couldn?t have picked a better spot. Between the DJ setting a great mood and the delicious food we had a great time. With fast service and good prices, I know we?ll be going back, and I definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a great night out. Pros: Great food, relaxing ambience more

Still hungry 9/5/2008

We had the Sunday night tapas tour about a year ago. (Sorry for the delay in posting!) With a glass of wine each and a tip, we spent over $100 for four people, then went downstairs to eat at High 5 because we were hungry. We have not been able to convince ourselves to go back. The four of us normally have a maximum of 2 appetizers to share before dinner, but instead each essentially had our own $15 appetizer and ate complete meals afterward. The food was good, there just wasn't enough of it. Pros: Food was good and the ambience is chic Cons: I was hungry when I left more

Something different from the average restaurant. 7/3/2008

My girlfriend and I decided to try out something new so we went to Red Room for the first time the other night. We ended up having a really great time taking salsa lessons and it sure didn?t hurt that the Sangria was half off. I would definitely recommend this place if you?re looking for something different from the average restaurant. Pros: Great Sangria more

25% tips? 5/31/2008

My wife and I went with 4 others to Red Room because their food is above average. However, it took a long time for the server to ever bring us drinks. Sometimes the orders were forgotten and we had to reorder several times. I found that every time we ordered, regardless of whether we received our food and drinks, was added to the bill. The worst was, upon looking at the bill, a 25% tip was automatically added to the bill. 25%! Are you kidding? Who adds 25% and then has a place for additional tip. Because they are trying gouge patrons on the bill, this is enough to make me forget their food is above average. Pros: food Cons: Addition of a 25% to tables of 6 or more, service is slow more

Excellent Sangria - Service only fair 5/4/2008

The Red Room makes the best ""homemade"" sangria that I've had in a LONG time. Service was inadequate (we were sitting on the patio - as many other customers were on a very pleasant spring Sunday evening in May). We had to ask another server to take our order and take over from the other one (Ginger). Ginger finally came back, but service never improved. Pros: EXCELLENT sangria! Go for the ""traditional"" sangria made with sparkling wine. Cons: Service - almost inexistent. more
