Best

My friends and I recently went to the Red Room. The restaurant/bar is a very cool lounge and nightspot whose Spanish twist brings a posh, yet eclectic feel to it. It was nice out...

Pleasant Surprise 10/4/2005

My husband and I happened upon this place while looking for a restaurant open on a Sunday evening for an anniversary dinner. We found the Red Room, sat outside, and ordered a tasty Spanish white wine. Each of the tapas we ordered - olives, seafood antipasto, and cheese plate - were excellent, although the antipasto was the best. Shrimp Ceviche was really tasty. Service was good, albeit a little slow. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise for us, and we would definitely go back. more

The food is good and inventive, and the restaurant's interior and atmosphere is enjoyable. The service is very slow and the staff is not the friendliest or quickest that I've experienced in the Glenwood area. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Rude staff more

Dont forget the customers! 9/5/2005

We went last night for dinner and drinks. It wasnt very busy.. perhaps 40% occupied.. We still had to wait over 30 minutes just to get a drink!! When we finally did get a drink they werent even what we ordered!! Red Room is WAY over hyped.. not recommended at all more

Hideous Food - Absolutely Hideous 8/13/2005

I would not take the time to write this, but the food at the Red Room was absolutely disgusting. There was no flavor, the filet tapas was a joke, the crab dip even more so, scallops tasteless, shrimp were shrunk b/c tehy were over cooked, carpaccio was ok, calamari was ok, we continued to order things, hoping to find something that was good. Our bill for two people was well over $100, with no alcoholic drinks (maybe that would of helped). Let me say that I had worked in bars and restaurants for around 10 yrs. All over the country, so it isn't that I am not use to this type of food. All I can say is this would have to be in the top 3 worst restaurants I have ever been to. I love Tapas, but this place is not the place to go to. Cons: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD more

Latin?? 7/14/2005

Great atmosphere but the Thursday night Latin DJ is no bueno. His mixes and transitions are not smooth......no flow. Same stuff every week. Also It takes about 5-10 min to get a drink @ bar, order through a coctail waitress and the drink will come alot faster. Food is great. more

Great Concept, Well-Executed 2/14/2005

My husband and I ate at Red Room on Valentine's Day. After an initial debacle when they couldn't find our reservation (they later did), our visit was great. Their signature cocktails were unique and delicious. The food was great. We love the tapas concept and think Red Room pulls it off well. Make sure you save room for dessert: the fried banana is to die for!!! The only thing we didn't love was the wine the waitress suggested. She raved and raved, but it was just okay. But, she gets paid to promote the restaurant's featured wine. Even so, we loved it and will definitely be back! Pros: Good parking, Tapas, Drinks more

Super! 1/8/2005

Great tapas place!! The food is excellent - lots of different, powerful flavors. We especially liked the chorizo and sauteed mushrooms. Drinks are really good too - I highly recommend the sangria and microbrew. Service was great. But perhaps the best was the ambience -- new wave Latin music and sleek decor provide a terrific atmosphere for a romantic date or a lively group outing. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh. Pros: atmosphere, food quality, sangria more
