Editorial review from Citysearch 12/28/2012

The Red Fox is the only restaurant of its sort in the Baytown. Great lunch specials, friendly staff, and stellar food. Gauranteed the freshest seafood in town and live music nightly by some of the areas most talented musicians. No cover charge, no overpriced entrees, just a fun place to spend an evening and have a wonderful meal. Get away from the chain restaurants and find out what ""real"" food should taste like.\r more

An Upcoming Restarant with alot of potential 3/22/2012

I have recently taken over the management of this promising restaurant. The staff has potential and they are working very hard through training to be better. We are revamping the menu and upscaling the quality of fare served here. I have over 30 years in the restaurant industry and have a great love for culinary arts. We are hoping that you will come and give us a try. Mention this review and I will give you a free appetizer with the purchase of two beverages. The live jam on wednesdays are off the hook! ! Wish us luck! Chef Dunn more

Delicious Unique Seafood 1/11/2012

Groupon led us here. It's a lovely place on a revitalized W. Texas Ave. The red snapper Mache Choux and the JazzedUp fried shrimp were first class dishes with a real gourmet flair. The Wednesday evening crowd was small. We enjoyed the soft background music. Prompt service and short wait for excellent food. No complaints. more

A Very Good Restaurant 4/21/2011

I really enjoyed my visit to The Red Fox Restaurant. I had heard alot of rumors, so I wanted to see for myself. Well, it was great. I don't know what people are complaining about. Chef Leslie was great ,her food leaves your mouth watering. Our server Jamelle did a great job. The Manager, Surina was very delightful, if we needed anything she made sure we received it in a timely manner. We will return many more times , now that we have experienced it ourselves. If you went in the past you need to go again. Things are great!!!!! more

History Repeats 1/22/2011

Went to the Red Fox last night for a quiet dinner date with my wife. The hostess was pleasant and seated us promptly, but quiet was not on the menu in so far as the wait staff. If I wanted loud southern hospitality, I would have went to a BBQ restaurant. The self professed waitress, slash bartender, slash manager was out of place with the ambiance of the facility. We could not escape the loud story of how 3 large table reservations were coming in an hour later as she recounted it to each of the other 5 tables around us that had been seated. The overall service was slow and unprofessional. At one point Chef Haggerty actually came out and bussed tables while the staff stood on the sidelines chatting. The Ceasar and Goat Cheese salads were fresh and delicious. My wife had the fried shrimp, and they were done perfectly. I had the Maque Choux (Grilled Red Snapper). While the fillet was served atop a creative mix of corn and cream sauce, it did not taste like more than a frozen piece of tilapia. I have tried each of the previous restaurants that have occupied this location, and was even married at the Veranda. Baytown and Texas Avenue in particular need to have a successful anchor restaurant at this location, but I question if the Red Fox is up to the task. I may give them another chance in the future; but for now if I want to drop $100 for a quiet dinner date with my wife, we are going to Cullen's. more

It started out good... 9/23/2010

Our first trip there, the food was excellent. The service was a little too casual. I don't really like to chit chat with the waitstaff while I'm eating. On our second trip, the quality and temperature of the food went down and the chit chat level went up. The server was attentive, but it took a while to get out food. Our third time, the food was less than average and yep, you guessed it, chatty Cathy was still taking orders. It took 2 hours for a party of 5 and the food was not hot when it came out. Sorry Fox, you're no Veranda. more

Textbook Failure 3/30/2010

A disappointing experience is what's in store for those unlucky enough to cross the threshhold. The owner's phycho/drunk behavior has run off about ten chefs in ONE year!!! TRULY a place to avoid. Cons: where do I start? more
