The BEST restaurant in NYC 9/8/2004

Being from Manhattan, it's perhaps unexpected that I'd think a Staten Island restaurant the BEST in NYC, but, after just one meal (4 years ago) I was convinced - and, many vists later, I still am. The food is matched by the fine & ever friendly service. The setting, Richmondtown Restoration couldn't be nicer (it's like a "rural excape" from The City).Even the tiny, "cozy", bar is a place I think of fondly. My only suggestion for improvement is that The Parsonage should add NEW YORK wines (Long Island/The Finger Lakes/The Hudon Valley...) to its wine-list -that would make the place near perfect! Pros: food, service, setting more

Quiet, good food 5/5/2004

On a weeknight, the place is quiet. Rack of Lamb and Garlic Shrimp with Linguine were both excellent, as was dessert. My only complaint is that there seemed to be a dampness and a dank undertone to the air. Maybe they have a moisture problem. Pros: quality food, good parking, romantic feel Cons: , dank air more

Overrated 7/4/2003

I've been here three times and while the food was good, it was nothing to write home about. Staten Islanders, in general, really don't know what makes a 10 restaurant. Certainly not this place. The interior is lovely, now only if the chef could get his act together. There are only two really good restaurants here, Aesop's Tables and Bordeaux. more

A Culinary Gem 3/3/2003

Service, food and atmosphere make dining here a memorable experience. The staff is very accomodating, and the menu offers a nice range of appetizers, entrees and desserts. The polenta as an appetizer was absolute culinary perfection, which left me anticipating my next course which was equally exquisite. I rarely have dessert, but I thought I would go for a complete perfect meal and I was not disappointed. Treat yourself to a wonderful experience and visit the Parsonage soon. Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Comfortable Atmospher more
