The Outdoorsman

I remember this place when it was in Grover Beach and was not too impressed, in fact, customer service was not the norm and they were proud of their prices, I just did not want anything to do with them. I then see this sign in a Arroyo Grande shopping center, under new ownership, so I decided to give it a look, and wow, customer service is great, and then there's the pricing, I have been buying my guns from a gun dealer that gave great prices, and was ready to order from them, but I decided for laughs and giggles to see what kind of price The Outdoorsman would give me, thinking they would give the same prices as the old outdoorsman, no, the new Outdoorsman beat out my "connection" by over $100.00, and again great customer service, also bought some accesories, and ammo, and those prices were even lower, in fact on ammo, beat out so called, best price places. I hope that people find out about this place and realize that they don't have to go out of the area to purchase. With me they will have a customer for life. more

Being in California, there are not a whole lot of local gun shops since the laws are so restrictive. Since I prefer to give my business to locally owned places, I went to this shop looking for something for my husband. I was very disappointed in the way that I was treated. I would have expected to have been treated very well since they probably need business, but I was not. The person did not want to take much time to answer my questions and I practically had to pry him off the phone to get any service. When I did purchase something (something I needed), he was too busy talking to someone about a hunting trip on the phone, that he wouldn't hang up so that the credit card machine could use the telephone line for authorization. I have heard other people have a wonderful experience at this store, but you must have to be a regular customer or something in order to get good service. more
