Best

One of the bell persons at our hotel put us on to Oceanaire. It was so fantastic that we went back with five additional guests a second night. Those guests who love oysters rave...

Worst

Seriously overpriced for the level of service. Pros: Beautiful decor Cons: Indifferent, inconsistent service

Great Times!!! 2/20/2005

Living on the west coast for most of my life I have come to love seafood. Oceanaire does it verrrry well. Fresh fish, big portions and a great wine list. The service I have received has not been matched here in Indianapolis and I can say seldom any where else I have dined. I am pleased to see that a great seafood restaurant has landed in Indy. I will be back. Pros: Food, Wine, Service more

Excellent food and dining experience in Indy! 2/19/2005

Last night my husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating my birhday at The Oceanaire. We are new to Indianapolis and this restaurant caming highly recommended. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. The flaming dessert was delicious too! It was worth every penny! more

RUDE!! 2/18/2005

I just called for reservations and the person at the restaurant was very rude to me. If you get bad service calling for reservations, I can't imagine what the restaurant would be like. I will not spend my money at any place that treats me like a burden. Cons: Service, Attitude more

WOW! The Oceanaire Seafood Room is a welcome addition to downtown Indy. Talk about FRESH! This is the place to come for seafood. The variety is amazing. From the swanky decor to the professional, attentive servers, The Oceanaire has it all. We were blown away. My family is already asking to go back. We were impressed when the chef stopped by our table just to see how our meal was going. I can't say enough good things about our experience. more

PHENOMENAL! 6/8/2004

I must admit when Oceanaire first opened I thought it would be another upscale chain rolling into town with lots of money and attitude and little else. After much cajoling from some ""foodie"" friends I finally deigned to give them a try, and now I'm kicking myself for not going sooner. Everything is top-notch from the jazzy decor to the well-poured specialty cocktails.... and the food! Hands down the finest and freshest seafood Indy has ever seen. From the melt in your mouth fresh oysters to the expertly prepared soft shell crab with melon salad - this is definitely one of the best meals I have had in years. I'd be remiss not to mention the service. Our server expertly guided us through the expansive menu and wine list and showed remarkable patience with my date and her penchant for trying to re-write restaurant menus. I can't wait to return. Pros: Food, Wine List, Service more

The Best 6/7/2004

If you want to make an impression, this is the place to take your boss, wife, girlfriend, etcetera. The food is OUTSTANDING, from the huge appetizer of a medly of seafoods, to the wine, the main dish (if you have never had fresh seafood, you'll learn the difference here,) and of course - the desserts - I recommend the carmel smothered brownie (for two.) THIS IS NOT RED LOBSTER! Pros: Oustanding Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere more

It Doesn't Get Any Better! 6/6/2004

I'll just quote from a collegue: ""Our evening in Indianapolis goes down in the record books as one of the finest dinners and gatherings of my career on the road. Incredible people, incredible food, incredible wine - What a fine combination."" If the other Oceanaire's are similar, they have a customer for life... Pros: Food, Value, Service more

Seafood Extravaganza 4/2/2004

What a gorgeous restaurant! From the moment my wife and I walked in the Restaurant on Sunday night we felt like royalty. The food was amazing and the service was punctual and attentive from the busser to the server. The chef came by, spoke with us about the restaurant and briefly described how he purchases fish daily and none of it is frozen! We will be back. It is nice to have a seafood restaurant downtown and it is even better to have a restaurant that takes service to another level. Pros: Food, Service more

Looks are not everything... 3/25/2004

Without question, this is a wonderful *looking* restaurant. That is where the positives end, and the negatives take over. 1. Adequate service- not outstanding 2. Food was cold. No, it wasn't supposed to be. 3. VERY VERY LOUD. Patrons next to us were yelling, and several tables complained. Manager did nothing. 4. Food value was lowest of my recent dining. Three people, three dishes, two drinks, two desserts= $198 with tip. I can get a better meal anywhere in downtown Indy. 5. Valet was terribly uneducated at the finer points of the valet service. 6. Most importantly, the taste: Bland Bland Bland. Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was similar taste to condensed chicken soup. No bite, and no bacon. Ahi tuna steak was sinewy and stone cold. Bread pudding was dry and doughy. Don't waste your time. Dine elsewhere. Pros: atmosphere, location Cons: , noise, valet more
